How to remove swirl marks?

I tried removing swirl marks on my car; however, I still see them. I used a Meguiar's G3500 DA polisher with a cordless Craftsman drill. First, I clayed the whole car. Then, I used the Meguiar's ultimate polish with the Meguiar's polisher. I did notice a glosser finish afterwards, but it did not remove the swirl marks. I am a beginner, so I wanted to try this product out. Have any of you guys ever used this drill polisher, and if so, what were your results? I would appreciate your feedback or suggestions. Thank you!

I have a random orbital from Griots, it is very similiar to a Porter Cable. I used Meguiar's M105 and M205 to rmeove scratches and swirls. It takes time and patience. I wouldn't spend money on that Meguair's polisher. You get what you pay for and $40.00 will not get you a very good polisher. There are so many other ones out there that colst more but it will last a very long time. Check out Adam's website or google porter-cable polisher. Make sure it is a random oribital type. A professional polisher will burn though the paint if held in one spot too long. Check out youtube and look up Junkman2000. He has great videos on the subject.

I've had mine from Griots Garage for about 8 years. Go to Amazon and look up Porter-Cable polishers. They are very good. I'm sure there are others on the forum who can give a few more ideas.

as SSJ455 said,it is the gospal.i did the same using the meguiars 105 and 205.it took all the swirls and scratches out with little effort.get the porta cable polisher.you will be glad you did.watch the "junkman "videos and you will be an expert detailer.

1) not enough cut with that sponge thingy
2) Not enough power with the drill
3) ultimate polish is more a glaze than a polish.

all 3 of these are keeping the swirls on your car. As others said a good DA polisher, good compound like the 105 then 205, and a orange pad to start.

have the griots 6 and it has served me well, the ultimate compound and polish duo should do the job. just get an orange and white pads and that should allow good correction, and finish out to a wax ready surface. if you only see the scratches in sun light then this should be all you need along with a bit of patience and solid technique. whaaaa whoooo post 4K

Go to http://www.poorboysworld.com/blackhole.htm get the Black Hole, put it on, wipe off lightly to leave some in the swirls scratches, and then put a thick paste wax on top of it, don't wipe off hard, just wipe till haze is gone, (leave as much on paint as possible)..
I have all black vehicles this works and its easy, do it a few times a year.

For beginners I would recommend starting out with the Porter Cable 7424xp. It is a solid polisher that wont break the bank. Adams polishes (plus many others) sell them either as a standalone or with kits that come with pads and polish.
