The last Shelby GT 500 came out after the 580 hp ZL1 and the underpowered Chevy beat it out in nearly every magazine article I read. It made too much power to be a threat and was only faster in a drag race. When you have a winning formula it isn't so easily replicated.

Been on the Gen5 and Gen6 Form since 2009, when I ordered and received my Gen5 2SS, I don't comment much, just read, learn, and take notes.... One thing I learn is that some people on here are so Brand Loyal, no matter what you say you can not and will not change their mind. For every issue they bring up negative about the competition, I can point to negative issues with the Camaro. I just like muscle cars...... and wish I could have one of each.

According to this article, MSRP is $85,000, but with only 3,000 being made for the US, ADM will be significant. Six figures anyone? |

I do like what Dodge did here but I'm more into a complete car that can be used at a drag strip a couple times a year and at the road course a few times a year. I'm surprised Chevy hasn't put in a sub mode inside of Track and made a Drag mode for the ZL1/Z06, they need to add that next.

I'm reading that non-street legal drag radials are required for the front tires to achieve the 9.6 1/4 mile time. Either way, high 9's-low 10's on the street is absurd.

ADM will be ridiculous...Just like Ford with 100k GT350Rs that MSRP in the 60s. Sad day.
I've said this from the beginning about GM with the ZL1. One thing they did right was selling the damn car at MSRP from day one. I applaud them for that. Maybe that is the dealer? Maybe it is influence from the company but I thought that was great.

obviously, as neither car is tuned for straight line only performance... my response was to snackbar's comment of "They (Chevy) don't seem to be interested in these extreme, niche vehicles"... clearly the zl1 1le and upcoming zr1 are extreme, niche vehicles

I had one of the first Gen5s and ADM the first year was crazy, same with the ZL1, but I got lucky both times, and never paid above ADM, actually got my SS below MSRP. What's amazing to me is the Gen6 ZL1s can be gotten below MSRP in the first year... that tells me the demand is lower than what has been produced.

It's a golden age for HP - I'm just enjoying the show! Would love to see one of these bad boys at a C&C.

No doubt this is cool. Interesting to see what else there is to learn about it. Hard to argue with that kind of performance. If I hit the lottery I might try to pick one up.
That being said, a drag car that is illegal on the drag strip? You know it will be at least as compromised as a ZL1 1LE on the road and completely useless on a road course. If the warranty stays intact even with the added safety equipment though that's pretty impressive. It's significantly easier to add a cage and DS loop then to make a hellcat/GT500/ZL1 run the same time(and add the safety equipment). Wouldn't trade my ZL1 for it but would happily add one to the garage.
