What a chore getting this programmed today. I took the car in to get the BCM and radio reprogrammed since I put in steering wheel controls and the PDIM this weekend. I told them explicitly, "I need the BCM reprogrammed as well as the radio since I put in steering wheel controls and the PDIM for the USB port.". I went to pick up the car after work and made sure to try everything out before I left. Steering wheel controls worked perfectly but, the USB didn't work. The AUX headphone port didn't work either so, I knew they didn't flash the radio. They argued with me that they did but, NO YOU DIDN'T SINCE IT DOESN'T F'N WORK!!! So, I had to walk back to the service area and explain to the guy exactly what I did, verify that the USB port had power but didn't work, and then tell him to update the radio... AGAIN. I actually watched him do it. Took a whole 5 minutes maybe including hooking up the tech tool and logging into what he needed to on the computer. Frustrating but, it works now. Anybody who goes to get this done... be sure that your tech knows exactly what he's doing. Print out instructions as that will help him out.

When I took mine in to be programmed, I made a copy of my PDIM installation instructions and brought them in with me, and they had me leave it in the car for the Tech. They were able to do it perfectly from that sheet alone.

That may help some of the shops understand what needs to be done.

What information does the dealer need to flash the radio?

The PDIM comes with instructions on how to program. The dealer just needs to follow the directions.

17. Perform the radio calibration upgrade. This will allow the radio to recognise the PDIM. This is required on all vehicles that have not had the PDIM installed before.

18. Perform a PDIM calibration upgrade. This will ensure the PDIM has the latest level of software available.

Excellent, I am going to add this to my list

here's a dumb question though. Where is the USB port? Is it on the PDIM box you added?

I've got the aux jack and a power plug in my console right now, does the USB replace one of these?

The USB port is between the AUX jack and power plug.

The kit comes with a new plug that you replace the old one with in the console.
