Convertible Prices
Looks like I may be locating/dealing on a convertible for a friend.
What are the best prices that folks are being able to negotiate? It will be a v6 automatic. Thanks for any input! |

You should be able to pick one up for a couple hundred over invoice. Check truecar.com, I work in the car business and as a salesman I think it's a fair system over there.
As long as you select all the vehicle options and create an exact copy of the window sticker of the vehicle your looking for, you'll get a fair assessment of what every(supposedly) buyer has paid for THAT vehicle, broken down both Nationally, regionally, and locally to you. If you check the Northern Virginia area, it shows me as the lowest convertible price in the region. I got mine for invoice even. For a 2012, realistically expect 200 over invoice. I don't know how I got my car really. Just went into a dealer on May 5th and they happened to have my RJT 2LT RS in stock with 175 miles on her. Either they test drove her a lot or it was a dealer exchange for one they had that another dealer wanted. Try to do that, NOT a factory order, to get the best price. |

I know you asked for V6 and this thread was for 2SS/RS but most were able to get at some price point below invoice. I have to imagine you can get a decent deal now. My dealer currntly has 3 verts in stock.

Truecar.com says this for my area:
For the base model, the average price for a new 2011 Chevrolet Camaro is trending $256 below the manufacturer's sticker price. For the 10 available 2011 Chevrolet Camaro trim lines, the average savings is 0.502% below the sticker price. Approximately how much below sticker is the invoice price? |

I saw in another thread that dealers are now doing $1500 2011 convertibles.

Don't even look at MSRP. Anyone who factors that into their negotiations isn't going to get as good of a deal. Only mention invoice.
Camaro5 is a great tool. Use your to get the information that is specific to your needs and only talk based on invoice. I happen to think that paying invoice or $100-$200 above is a fantastic deal and allows the dealer to pay their electric bill, but some are amazingly proud of "sticking it to the dealer" and paying below invoice. Since I won't even deal with a scuzzy dealership, I take that aspect out of the negotiations and prefer that my dealer and I both get a fair deal. And I do want a local dealership to provide excellent warranty service, so I look for a local site to form a relationship with for both car purchases and future needs. I understand not everyone is able to do this though, based on numerous factors. Becky has been able to help others with new cars and trade-ins. She is the awesomest.

Edmunds.com is the link I've always used when buying cars. Really nice set-up showing MSRP and invoice pricing.

Most dealers will show you the invoice information as well. What most won't share is what the holdback is. It's about $1,000 on a 2LT RS. (Assuming no other incentives.)
