The ends of the drive shaft attaches to the drive flange on the transmission and the driven flange on the rear end with rubber isolators (donuts) with 6 bolts at each end. It's possible in this case that bolts were not torqued correctly or they were bad bolts. The service manual says not to re-use the bolts when removed. It may be a good idea to check the torque of these occasionally.
Also there is a slip joint with a support bearing about the middle of the drive shaft.

so i got a call from the shop today and they say that all of the drive shaft flange bolts were broken and they are going to replace the drive shaft as well.they still arn't shure why it broke which kinda bothers me. should have more info tomorow. the good news is that i might get my stripes for free out of all this. gotta look on the bright side right.

brittle fracture: the sudden catastrophic failure of a material with little or no plastic deformation. Usually caused by stupidity.

Yup, it was me that it happened to. Had the car off the lot just a few hours. I ended up breaking the 3 bolts that attach the driveshaft to the rear diff. Took my dealer 10 days to get the replacement bolts... Hopefully they are more readily available now.

This is a bit disappointing. How are you supposed to use this car as intended if something so simple fails?

There have been many cases of the 6 speed sticks doing this. Shock to drive train snaping OEM bolts. There is a company out making alot stronger bolts because of this but can not find them right now, but they are posted on the site.

So I taik to the shop today and drive shaft and the flanges are still on back order, could be up to a month, Service manager still says I did nothing wrong it was just a fluke. How the hell can it take that long for a drive shaft! Allready been two weeks. How much do you think a high performance shaft would cost? Sorry I havent posted more updates but work has been crazy
