From Supercharger to Twin Turbo now Remote Turbo FTW!
After a long year of trying out different forms of forced induction, I've finally settled on a remote turbo. Building a remote turbo kit for our car was by far the easiest method of the 3 and requires the fewest amount of tools (I'll post a complete list of everything needed soon). The car spools up great, runs fast, and the gas mileage on my auto is now 35mpg on the highway with 70 set on cruise control after an hour long drive. I'm still waiting on final tune from Vince at Trifecta to make it run leaner up top (currently buries the wideband on the rich side at full throttle) but it runs good. Here's some pics below and I'll put up some videos soon

Are you using zip ties to hold your tubing underneath your car?

Self tapping screws through metal bands at some points are holding the intercooler piping to the frame but some points do use nylon and metal zipties were I couldn't get a good tap but wanted extra support. Also the return oil lines are ziptied to the intercooler piping at moment. I bought cushion clamps with holes for self tapping screws to use with the oil lines but haven't had time to do it. I only had a day to put this together so I did what I can

Wow... looks like a nasty beast =D. So do you have the turbo mounted near the front? Then, i see piping going to the end of the exhausts... Some extreme closeups make me dizzy @__@ VERY cool none-the-less =D

I used a restricted flange and the turbocharger itself has a restrictor inside the center housing (I dont know why all turbos don't have one) so no pressure issues there. Also, I'm using the same turbowerx base pump from my twin setup but I left the return unvented and it now works great.

Lol, I used a lot of the pipes from the twin setup but I still have the custom up-pipes and two magnaflow mettalic core cats with 02 bungs welded on them (total cost $800 but i'll sell for $200). I have a few more parts left over. PM if your interested. I'll try to attach the parts list I used for both the twin kit and remote kit but I don't know how to attach excel documents.

I have now attached the parts list. Its still an excel file but compressed it first so camaro5 would accept it.

Dude, I am so waiting for how this goes! Dyno and track times would be great!
Quick question, though, why did you go with the turbo (Master Power T60) that you did? Just wondering. |
