What brand of brake are you planning on going with? Someone told me about this website brakeperformance.com.

Pleasant Surprise! I went to get my brakes replaced/ rotors turned down, and the dealer informed me that the rotors on the SS can't be turned down (because they are composite ??), so they replaced both front rotors under warranty.

Thanks

Steven,

Will do. I will definitely upgrade brakes/rotors sometime in the future, and I'll get back with you.

Joe.

I just took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. I asked my mechanic to check the brakes. He told me the same thing. He said that when it is time, the rotors will have to be replaced too because it's an SS.

I wasn't sure he was telling me the truth, but know that you mentioned it, I guess I'll have to believe him.

Anyone else have more info?

thanks,

BL.

Composite?
They look like iron rotors to me.

Mine rust like crazy while washing my car. Think my SS has iron rotors.
Congrats on fresh rotors covered by warranty!

Rotors under warranty? How do you manage that one?

The may be true, about not being able to turn them down, but our rotors are unfinished iron.

I'm not really sure. I always go to the same dealer for work, and I trust them. It's the same shop that has done all of my mods for me. They always take care of me. They originally told me that the rotors needed turned down, and then they said they couldn't be turned, so they replaced them. Believe me, I didn't ask any questions after that.

That's got to be some kind of record.
I replaced my rotors and pads for performance parts at about 20,000mi and they were hardly worn at all so I guess it's possible.
