Wow. I wasn't thinking so much a 'rookie' as a 'blundering imbecile' for even doing that without some experience. If he's dragged before, he would've made the run.

Equal torque to both rear wheels, spinning or not, should still equal a controllable straight ahead. I don't see him turn the front wheels. I guess I'm just a little confused Guess he should have left stabiltrac on

Rookie is not the word that comes to my mind. I saw guy do the same thing in a new Mustang GT, he still had 30 day temp tags on the car. I would go with lack of experience as a likely cause.

Not if you don't back out of it soon enough.

It appears there was a loss of traction from the start, he should have left competition mode on, it would have prevented that from happening. Very Sad to see that beautiful car smashed like that. A lot of people do not realize that if you wreck at a track it is on your dime. Very Sad! Hope he did not get injured at least, but I bet his wallet is going to hurt for a long time!

Let's hope this isn't related to the shaft cracking problem people have been having. It could be that simply the wheels lost their grip.. He knew the risks of drag racing. At least it was in a controlled environment and on a track.

You're absolutely right about the insurance.

Damn, bunch of judgmental people on here. People make mistakes. He wasn't expecting the back end to come around on him like that. Yes, he was spinning the tires and had launched too hard. I almost smacked a Nova 28 years ago when we both took off too hard and slid towards each other. Yes, it was on the street but miles in the country. Of course wouldn't do that again.

Of course everyone on here is a racing expert.
Car broke loose after start so water was not a problem or else he would have spun immediately.
Did the car that ran before drop fluid on the track the starter didn't see?
Let's not bash other Camaro owners here that's what Mustangs are for.
BTW I've been drag racing since'68. Had some things happen to me also. Broken axle, fire, dropped a valve, SH*t happens.

This is why you keep it off the streets. The wall could've easily been an innocent driver, or a mother with kids, etc.
