Some first European Camaro prices for importing maybe?

A friend of mine send me a few links of some used cars he would like to get, and I was goofing around, checking out prices for older Camaros, and, guess what...

I 'm guessing those prices are for importing the cars from the US, adding some vat etc costs, adding some make-EU-friendly costs, adding some profit costs...

The ranges go from 40K EURO to almost 60K EURO. Which is "ouch" to say at least, comparing it with the US.

Some of the pix are quite old, ie there is an old pic of the Camaro sporting the rear spolier and side skirts etc when they where first demo-ing them, but I suppose, old photo or not, they have prolly used the known prices to make up their own.

60K will be ok for the upper class in EU. It will most definitely not be "an average man's sport car" like in the US. I 'm hoping for some sense when the car is brough by GM Europe.

Not extreme prices at all.

for The Netherlands you'd have to take into account:

base price
+ US VAT (probably not added in internet prices)
* 1.10 (european import tax 10%)
* 1.19 (dutch BTW tax)
* 1.49 (dutch car tax, which added *after* BTW is payed)
* 1.xx (slurptax)

I guess the 40K/50K range for the V6 is about right...

They'll come down, it's going to be slightly more costly then the Mustang, and then a bit less or the same since Camaro will be a European model as well in a few years.

Fact is I'm quite surprised, cause I would not imagine importing the camaro to Europe for less than 45.000 Euros...

Which makes me quite optimistic concerning its price when it will be released here in 2010 (if on schedule).

May seem expensive from US, but comparing it to the prices here, it's actually NOT that expensive (even cheap, some would think).

And remember that there's no real "pony" or "muscle" car so to speak in Europe (at least in France, as far as I know), even if I recently crossed two mustangs, and I know that there's at least one Challenger in France. Yeah. One. Only way to get one is importation.

That's wayyyy too expensive ... I also wonder how reliable it is (how can you say now that you're selling a car with 75 km done??)

I've seen a guy at PAris autoshow who was selling (and sold!!) a Chalenger for more than 75 000 Euros ... crazy ...

If you can, I highly recommend to import it yourself. I also doubt the car will be officially sold in EUrope in official Chevy dealerships ...

I won't accept more than a direct "convertion". I mean if the car costs 35 000 USD, I'm ok to pay 35 000 EUR, not more.

Actually, I'm waiting for a Z28 ... cause 420 hp isn't enough ... looking forward hearing from your experiences when you'll get your camaros guys!

Absolutely not true.
Camaro SS = cost 36000 $ + customs 48000 $ = 84 000$
Camaro LT = cost 28000 $ + customs 28000 $ = 56 000$

So, not 100k$ But anyway customs is driving me nuts.

For me in Spain (i am waiting for it and it will arrive in 6 weeks aprox)

1LT manual+connectivity pack+sunroof+19" = 37500 EUR (all included + 2 years warranty from the import company)
