You don't have to be a road racer, just want to learn how you and your car can handle the pavement and have fun, no awards, no prises, just having fun...

I'm very interested in this. I'd say sign me up but there are no details. What are we getting into in terms of time and funds? Ballpark it so we can all plan ahead. That may be part of the issue with a lack of interest.

It depends what we want. An open track with EMTs, corner workers and tow vehicle is very easy to do and the cost modest. 50 cars / drivers at a cost of $175 will get us a full day. If we add instructors the cost goes up. To keep costs down we could bring in one of Pedders top drivers as an instructor.
Here is what is really cool abiout Gingerman. We can simply gather on a designated Test and Tune day. That means open track from 5 to dusk for $60 per driver. There is no instruction. It is pure track time Tuesday and Wednesday nights. It all depends on what WE as a group want. |

Let's start with the basics. Are we doing a budget evening 5 to dusk for $60 or looking aty a full track day with instructors and $250 to $400?
Please post up your preference. |

I liked the track format we had at Mid-Ohio last September using lead/follow, no passing and after one or two laps, the lead car drops to the back. Additionally, it might be nice to experience (even it was just as a passenger) the difference between a stock car and a Pedderized car around the track. Thanks for working to put together a track event. |

I'm with Heinz. I like budget!
D... Anytime you want a ride in a prepped car, let me know. Though mine is not completely done over, it's got enough to notice a real difference! |

If we are not looking to staff the event with a lot of instructors, we can keep the cost down. Pedderised Camaro is no problem.
If we did the track day with a limited number of instructors we could keep the cost down. $200 per driver / car and as few as 30 cars. I have to get with the track and confirm the numbers from last year but we should be in the ball park. |

I'd be interested as well. No problem with keeping it on a budget, but would much rather do a reserved track day than an open test and tune. Test and tunes can be nice on a slow day or a real mess if a hundred people show up. You just don't know what you'll get. It would be a long drive up there to sit and wait for a turn on the track.
Michigan's a great place to be in during the summer. Good location for a road trip. Last edited by SilverIceman; 02-19-2011 at 07:14 AM. |
