Exclamation * * * GOODBYE HHR! * * *

Chevrolet HHR

Chevrolet announced to dealers today that the current model year (2011) will be the last for the Chevrolet HHR model. Production of the HHR will cease in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico in the spring of 2011.

Chevrolet’s product lineup is growing, in 2011 and beyond. The new Chevy Cruze is launching in North America now, and is already a major marketplace success worldwide. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric car will begin its launch soon. Two additional new Chevrolet small cars will follow Cruze and Volt, creating a broader and more fuel efficient range of cars.

HHR has been a successful product for Chevrolet, combining the cargo carrying capacity of an SUV with the efficiency of a small car, wrapped inside a design that celebrates Chevrolet’s heritage. More than 500,000 HHRs have been sold since its introduction in the 2006 model year.

Those and PT cruisers I just don't get. But, evidently quite a few others liked them. I'll be interested in seeing what Chevy replaces it with down the road.

I love my HHR SS Turbo. It's in the history books now. It's really too bad Chevrolet didn't make them AWD to compete with Subaru's and other AWD boxes.

And GM is replacing it with...

Nothing...at least nothing we know of.

I suppose there's always this if GM ever decides to make it available in the US.

Too bad...I had one for a couple years before I got the Camaro. Great little car and very versatile. Quite a bit of pep for a four-banger.

Affordable, reliable, tons of cargo space, great on gas and clean retro stying. Love my HHR and sad to see 'em go. But if they're not selling like they used to then it makes sense.
