I may very well be wrong and the Z/28 prototype could be sitting in some building right now just getting finished.

The "best" question to ask is, "why wouldn't/shouldn't GM make a Z28? After all it's the most marketable Camaro brand.

I don't think they will have much of a problem selling cars. I would bet that performance is not that big of a deal to a large portion of the people that own these cars. Only to people like us who enjoy the muscle car wars and love to understand what our cars can do and can't do. That's why they build limited cars like the ZL1.

They feel the Camaro line will continue to make money even if they don't release a Z28.

The more powerful cars help market the lesser cars to those who cant afford the pricier ones. It's really marketing strategy. Keep the excitement and anticipation coming with new releases every so often. The Z28 will happen...unless GM marketing is willing to cost them business.

Absolutely correct! Let's take 1969 production as an example, of the 159,202 Camaro units sold in the '69 model year, only 57,695 high performance Camaros were in those numbers (including 20,302 Z/28s 302/290hp), 22,339 L48 350/300hp, 6,752 L35 396/325hp, 4,889 L78 396/375hp, 2,018 L34 396/350hp, 311 L89 396/375hp and 1,084 COPO Camaros (including 69 units of ZL1). The other 101,507 units was all a mix of standard and optional I6 and standard V8 engines. So roughly for every one high performance unit sold, there were two non high performance units sold. While the percentages today would be very different, the principle stands that high performance unit sales influence the sales of non high performance units for people that want the "look" without the performance and price.

Still hope not, I still want it to be a Gen V DI engine what is the point of bragging rights if we put a motor into a car that is 2.0L bigger than the competitions engine in their "BOSS" Geee yeah, I'd say it should beat the Boss with that much of a bigger engine..If they can do it, so should GM be able to...5.3L DI all the way for me. You guys keep saying the LS7 and I bet that is what the hold up is..Who says bigger is always better LOL

While I would love to see GM do a fifth gen Z/28 with a smaller, high revving motor in the 5.0-5.5 L range, I don't really expect that GM will do a "one off" design for the Z/28 regardless if it is a 4th or 5th gen SBC in the 5th gen. body. I think any smaller engine they decide to use would be from another application to spread cost among two or more vehicles (like the LSA going to CTS V and Camaro). My hopes are one thing, unfortunately reality is often something else.

The technology between the 2 is already very different. The sedan weighted Camaro needs the 7.0 when comparing it to the much smaller Boss.

The engines are all the same block wether 5.0 or 7.0. So there is NO real weight difference. I'll take the 7.0 please.

Well what if the 5.3 doesn't put out more power than the 5.0?
