Dory
Hello Camaro5!
Well I finally am getting around to making my car journal after being on this site for 2 years lol. My mom helped me put down a down payment as a college graduation present. Western Illinois University shout out lol. This car is my daily driver and i live in Illinois so it sees a good amount of weather and use. Hopefully one day it will be my weekend car. Its far from perfect but its mine. Her name is Dory. I believe its appropriate for the color scheme i have chosen. This is my first Chevy but my love affair started when my dad and half brother bought a blue 69 stingray to rehab. My family has never really had brand loyalty. We've owned a decent amount of brands. Toyota, Dodge, Mercedes, Saturn, Ford, Infinity, Porche, Nissan, Jeep, and of course Chevy. My first car was a 92 Toyota Paseo that was driven by my mom and then went through both of my older sisters before finally ending its life with me. After that I got lucky and took over the payments on my brother-in-laws 97 Mustang Cobra that he had to get rid of because he was having my nephew. 17 is when i got that car and needless to say thats a lot of car for a young hot headed driver lol. It was a good learning experience though and thats what really got me into modding. And that brings me to now. So hope you guys enjoy! Originally I had the side markers tail lights, side markers, front, and rear bowties wrapped in gloss black vinyl. I decided i liked the contrast of the flat black on the metallic finish better. I wanted something that had more of a stealth feel to it. I ditched the stock grille and threw on the heritage. Definitely gave it a more aggressive look. I also had a Stillen front splitter but it was a hassle to keep on without adding additional screws and using some other kind of adhesive. Then the ZL1 front end came out and i decided that i eventually wanted to go that route. Another big discovery was when plastidipped started to be used on peoples cars. I went a little crazy once i figured out how easy that stuff is to use lol. Eventually i want all the plastidipped stuffed painted or vinyled but for now pastidip is helping get a feel for what i want. Anyways i hope to have some more stuff done by spring. Got some goodies from Christmas i couldnt wait til spring to install. Had some time over the weekend to get some stuff installed. I guess this is the start of my audio build. I also figured out that my car will be built from the inside (interior) outward. My exterior is far from perfect right now with a good amount of dings and a few scratches (it is my daily) and seeing as im gonna eventually replace a good amount of the body ill save that for last. As for the engine that will be modded once the ol warranty is up.
Anyways.....I dynamatted my trunk, installed an amp and some subs. I also got a pair of plasma DRL bulbs which I installed. I also am in the process of repainting some of the interior trim pieces i did before (I thought i could do a better job). Ill post some pics later when i get home from work. |
