Shorty Headers for 2011 2LT

Hey Guys,

So my Camaro is taking shape finally. Apart from all my exterior mods, I have a Black Ice-olator, Ported Throttle Body, AEM Cold Air Intake, Elite Catch Can currently installed as well as the Vitesse Throttle Controller soon.

My question about Shorties, specifically for the V6 LLT Camaro..

I am in California so would like to use Carb approved headers.

I know JBA makes Shorties that are carb approved but I hear people raving about the American Racing Headers. However, I haven't had any luck finding their Shorty Headers for the V6? Do they even make them

I found these guys: http://www.jdpmotorsports.com/brands...-v6-arh-cav6sh

That seems like a long tube system however. Can I use these with my factory cats? California law doesn't allow us to mess with our Cat's.

Thanks,

Phil

Go for the Doug Thorley shorty headers I love mine. They are a bit more expensive than the JBA shorties. They do keep the stock cats in place.

DT's aren't carb approved yet for some reason but they don't mess with your cats so you should be fine even in commiefornia.

Hi,

I might have to move out there for a job. Only be 2 years. What kind of emissions do they have out there and what can you do to your car before they freak out and call you a violater?

Thx

California requires all parts to have a Carb number. This limits what you can use in terms of aftermarket parts. Cold air intakes are heavily restricted, no LT headers, cant change your cats, etc etc. Basically, you have yo buy parts that have been approved by the emmisions board and you'll find that the besy performing parts arent approved...

Okay, sounds like DT it is. If they keep Cat's in place i am sure I will be fine.. Or so I hope . Did you notice any performance gains? Sounds better?

Oh yea the sound is a lot deeper and louder, oddly enough it removed some of my drone. The car does feel like it has more power.

No problem! Just a heads up they will have to be welded, so the install cost will be a bit pricey.

Sounds about right I paid 400, but that included new gaskets from GM.

My 2011 2LT is totaled and has the DT shorties installed. The car is located in Sacramento and was rear ended.
