What concerned me is they said it wasn't a simple removal, that the entire dash needed to be taken apart to replace it and that could take 3+ hours.
I've read on here that should not be the case, any thoughts?
the dash does not need to be taken out. i have already had mine replaced before.

Any idea on the procedure on how to take just the pad off without the dash? The new pad came in and they are still adamant that three hours labor = take the dash apart and keep my car for a day.

New update:
Previously the dealer cited 3.5 hours labor under PIC5718B/Document ID 3285069: "Instrument Panel (IP) Center Soft Insert Above Radio Center Stack Appears Deformed or Wrinkled - Feb 8, 2013" which superseded PIC5718A due to parts availability.

Today the dealer informed me this was ***updated*** over the weekend to PIC5718C with 0.4 hours labor - presumably with a updated procedure but they have to order a new part because the dash pad that came in had a scratch right across it.

Just got back from my dealer and they gave me the same info. #PIC5718C Document ID: 3409458 and 0.4 hrs. It is dated 4/18/2013. It says some may have been replaced and are returning with the problem again but also says the parts issue has now been resolved. Taking mine in on May 2nd so I guess we shall see. Parts are ordered and installing next week.

New dash pad came in this week. Went into the dealer today as the got it installed, took no longer than 40 minutes all round.

New pad looks good, no bubbling or sticking noises when pressed but we will see if it stands the test of summer. Really hoping this is resolved now. I'll update if I have any more issues with it.
