How come Challenger is always on the bottom? Their number is half of the other two. Is it because the exterior, the interior, or the engine quality?

From what I've seen in my area, if it isn't related to production numbers it due to their cost. I'd say 99% of the ones I've seen around here are $50k+ which definitely limits sales away from a lot of people who would like to drive them. Personally, I love the body style, however, interior wise they are a hodge-podge of 300M and Charger parts. Disappointing really given how nice the lines are.

the chally is probably on the bottom for a couple of reasons,or at least i think the reason's are,(1)it is about 7-10 grand more for comprably equipped camaro and (2)it's a dodge, not saying anything bad about the chally,i like the looks of them, almost as much as the camaro, hell the mustang has grown on me as well, but as far as a sports car,the camaro is the only one i have ever owned,i am on my third since i have been driving,i am knocking on the big 50 yr.old mark, aarrrrggg!

Great numbers! We're hanging in there! I hope the trend remains very close to this and sales continue to be strong. I love how close it is and that we have challengers from the Big Three.

I'd be interested to see what the Genesis and 370Z numbers look like for this timespan, too... because they really are the import versions of muscle cars, even though so many call the 370Z a sports car because of its 2 seat interior layout.
the Challenger is probably in last place because it is more expensive and kind of a niche car... I love the way it looks and I will probably own one somewhere down the road... but its just not meant to be a sales leader like the Camaro and Mustang are... and it never really was, even back in the early '70s. I love seeing the Camaro and Mustang battle it out for sales dominance... because it means that Ford and GM are doing well... and lets face it, the Camaro has brought competition back to the market, and Ford has had to improve the Mustang to keep up... RIP 4.6L mod motor... I doubt many of us will miss you... lol

It's a combination of price and market demand. Although I've driven a new Hemi Challenger owned by a friend at work, I wouldn't trade my 1SS for it. Overall the Challenger is a nice car, decent 'retro' styling, build quality on par with the Camaro but overpriced for what you get.

Any way to get a breaddown on camaro models sold. Would be interesting to see how many V6 vs V8 models sold and of which how many were RS models.

Thanks to everyone who tried to educate me on the differences. It's just kinda sad to see the trio is really just a two horse race.
With that said, maybe Challenger should be priced like the rest so the competition is real. After all, without the "niche" viper, I am not really sure what they have to offer. Not to mention, viper is in the league of its own (perhaps against a ZR1 and GT1000?) |

Sales jumped when he 5.0 came out because ford did firle sales to get rid of all the pre-existing GTs.... it created a buzz that made the sales numbers higher, and misled people into assuming it was the "bad ass new motor" that was causing the big sales.. when it was really the old cars there were moving. again though, the jump from 4k to 9k from feb to march... what is your answer there?.. I have none... I guess people just started wanting mustangs.
