I first heard about the Camaro coming back, from the transformer movies, so I guess it did play a role, but lets face it. the car is sexy as hell, it would have gotten my attention sooner or later. lol

Maybe the fact that the first movie had the camaro as the good guys and the mustang as the bad guys affected sales lol

The first time I saw the new Camaro I forgot I was watching a movie.
Sorry haters, it didn't hurt at all, but the Camaro didn't need the transformers to push sales. In fact, I think it's the other way around. I think the Camaro helped the movie. It's a design that reaches down your throat and grabs you by the....well.... you know whats...and holds on. All there is to it. It never gets old. |

They sold a hell of a lot of Trans Ams in the 70s after the Smokey and the Bandit movie came out. That being said, I never understood the transformers phenomenon. I'm just glad the car didn't appear in a Harry Potter movie otherwise people here would be sticking wizards riding brooms on the side of their cars.

I'm sure it helped move a few cars, but real reason was pent up demand. 8 years of no camaros and they bring it back and did it right that's gonna be a huge chunk of your sales.

A shocking amount from what I've seen. My brother was working for a Chevy dealer when the movie came out, and he describes over a year of endless inquiries about a "transformers car".

It's the reason I didn't order a yellow one...didn't want to constantly hear "it's bumblebee!"

I wish the 5th Gen Camaro had NO association with the Transformers. Give me a break. And why do so many people say "I seen"? I seen it. Illiteracy in America is truly sad.

I was obsessed about getting this car from the time I had first seen its concept prototype back in 2007/08 at NAIAS. I knew I would eventually end up getting it in the future after it had been launched. But now since it was in the Transformer Series I have seen Camaro being referred to as Bumblebee an awful lot more than Camaro itself.

For the car guys and die hard fans the movie had no effect on them wanting one. Even the not so die hard fans, people who liked the Camaro didnt have one but said one day i will buy one. When it was discontinued they lost that chance to ever have one, so when it was re released they wernt going to miss the chance again. For the average person and that is where most sale will come from. the movies played a major role in people wanting them. The new hot car that was in all the movies, they wanted one just like that!

Once I saw the 5th Gen in the movie... I was SOLD! I don't know about everybody else, but that did it for me. I can remember like it was yesterday how my mouth dropped open at how beautiful this machine was. For the next couple of weeks at work, the car was the talk of the day. So the movie helped reintroduced the Camaro to the rest of the world, and the car help boost the amount of people to go see it. A win-win situation.

THIS! OY VEY! That's all I hear, even with my custom plates that say "Not A Bee". I look at it as a sweet car no matter what color. The movie did not influence me at all, I own a 3rd gen 'Bird and had a 4th gen Camaro before. But for the love of Rod! Not every RY Camaro is trying to be flippin Bumblebee.
