Bone Stock G35 auto vs Camaro SS
We both had 2.1 60 foots on all 3 runs. His best run of the night was 13.5 @ 104, my best run was 13.6 @ 102(best trap 103). Last edited by 08-G35s/6MT; 03-24-2013 at 02:04 AM. |

Bone stock 2008 G35 Sport, but 5-speed automatic. It has 122k miles on the odo and bunch of random crap in the car, weighed 3610 lbs.

Don't underestimate the VQ35HR. All 3 of those runs with the Camaro SS were clean, we were within .2 tenths of each other and 2 mph every run. He is a stock L99.

Thanks. There was a film crew for a new show on the Speed channel that recorded the runs. You could see these runs on national TV.
These runs were on 245/40R18 Chinese Primewell tires btw guys. Last edited by 08-G35s/6MT; 03-23-2013 at 02:38 AM. |

Slow v6

To be honest, 13.5 is pretty bad for an SS. Where did you go and on what date? I want to see the real times.
The g35's are pretty quick, but nowhere near SS territory. Practically it is V6 territory.

Lucky you got to run last night, 500 ft DA. We always seem to miss the good weather there. Good job with the times though.

500ft DA and that SS was running mid 13s at 104 Those are 2000+ft DA times at my tracks, 2.1 60s with an auto is terrible! Now I know why some people think 5th gens are slow. I would kill for 500ft DA!!! Guys dont underestimate a g35 now All joking aside, not a bad run for that car! That SS is a turd you were racing though, either on low octane or driver has NO idea what hes doing!

In 500ft Da thats terrible! Should be 13.0-.2s at 106ish fairly easy for an auto. 2.1 60fts in a auto is terrible too, 2.0 1.9 is a walk in the park for an auto! Plain and simple those are bad passes in that car!

My biggest issue is the 2.1x sec 60' times for the L99 Camaro SS.
The L99 A6 has a very aggressive 1st gear and 2.1x sec 60' time is really bad. With decent skills behind the wheel, a stock L99 A6 will 1.9x sec 60' all day long. That would have brought the 1/4 mile times down in the low 13s @ 105-107 range (which would be more typical for the conditions). Mid 13s with a 500 ft DA is pretty slow for a stock L99 A6. I've personally watched a bone stock L99 A6 run 13.3s @ 105 mph in 2500 ft DA (88 degrees with high humidity - summer in Florida). But it is well known that many stock L99s desperately need a tune. We've seen some pretty slow stock L99s that badly needed tunes. My L99 A6 (tune only) ran 12.90 @ 108/109 mph on a sunny mid 70s temp day. Here's my tune only time slip (and take note of the 60' time). That's the 60' time L99s can pull stock with the right driver. Last edited by SGOS252382; 03-23-2013 at 11:15 AM. |
