My Challenger SRT8 use to get about 15mpg. If you sat at idle with the motor running you could almost watch the gas needle move. My 2011 Corvette use to get 20.3 and I couldn't notice any difference at idle. My 2013 Camaro SS gets 18.3 and no difference at idle. Of all the cars I've had in the past 18 years, the Challenger had the worst gas mileage. Surprisingly, the vette had the best.

Keep in mind the Charger takes regular gas. R/T included. Camaro SS does not.

It says premium recommended for the SS which in everyone's mind should say it's a must.

Well before I got mine worked on and tuned I ran reg for a lot of miles. Car has 55k on it and all but about 6 ran on reg in south Texas. Just saying. I also own a gxp with an ls3 and it has almost 60k miles on regular. Never had a lick of probs with either.

You car isn't knocking or down on power or losing mpgs. I know if I put anything but premium in my SS a bike it'll act funny

Nope the gxp is getting 21 mpg. Lots of highway. And now that the ss is tuned it uses premium but when it was stock I was getting almost 27 mpg. Again lots of highway.

If Hemi's are so good, why do people always get Chevy motors for their hotrods and such?
Because old hemi's are super rare and expensive and Chevy Small blocks are everywhere, relatively cheap to buy and mod to get plenty of HP.

Took my Challenger srt 392 6 speed (man) to vegas a couple months ago. According to the computer she got 24.8 going and 26.3 coming home. About 250 miles avg 80 mph each way fully loaded with 3 adults. Which makes me wonder how accurate the computer is.

Charger r/t has to have 89 octane or better according to the manual.
