New Intake - Opinion Needed...
So I want to get a CAI for my car. I have the LS3. Several companies claim to have the best product. Is there proof or dyno charts to prove which is the best choice? My friend Matt55 says the Vararam would be his choice. My local Speedshop says the LMR is their choice..... What are your guys thoughts??
Thanks for the time.... Bryan |

Some give good gains , but look WHY they give you good gains . ie Texas Speed Intake , about 18-20 hp gain ! http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29980 BUT look at the A/F 's all most a point leaner !! So how much gain is from just A/F change , some are getting 15-20 form a tune so...... I still think the intake placed in a high pressure zone is going to give best HP. Like Vararam or if your impatient (you have to know him !) New era http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ght=era+intake

Vararam will be the best, the offer the biggest gains , their price will be competitive and they offer a money back guarantee. i don't remember any other companies offering that. New era will be a close second, everyone else offers side mounted intakes that sit right in the engine departments, there more like short ram intakes and not cold air intakes, and are all basically the same in overall design. Vararaam is taking their time doing it right before they release, they didn't just throw some pipe out on the market and call it an intake. My money will be spent with Vararam.

With all of the time and testing that Vararam is doing, I'm going with them. Especially since they're going to be priced competitively against New Era.
I've also heard of some intakes causing codes to be thrown, so just be aware of that also. That will definitely be a deciding factor for me too.

One thing I want to add is I am looking for quicker throttle response. Isn't an open air filter vs. in a box going to offer that???

Pre order link
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=29331 here is a good post from vararam Testing- we are approaching our mileage goals without issue. latest test data: (2010 SS Automatic) DA= 2400-2600ft above sea level dead idle launches in drive all runs are hot laps, "NO COOLDOWN" Using same G-tech etc.. 0-60 = 4.67-4.71 1/4mile 13.07-13.12 @ 109.1-109.3mph these would be strong 12 second runs@110-111mph in a decent Density Altitude. ( NO TUNING) We are still working on several of the key components in the tail of the system that have Patents that are pending, so at this point we still cannot show pictures of the rear of the unit. We know many other companies rushed intake kits out the door and have since thrown check engine lights and required a retune. We are spending time data logging with EFI live to keep this diaeled out as we have continued to turn up the wick on the unit. Unlike most intake kits Vararam units are nothing but baby superchargers with efficencies well over 100% and as such we have more to deal with on the E38 computer than simple static dyno readings. One testing example: a 0-60mph run We have reached 105KPA in 1st gear alone! but the time to that KPA is reduced by 33%! By the numbers we are seeing we are close to the max at this point. Now we must reach our target milage without issue before switching to production tooling, we will not compromise this. The next shots we release will be 99% the real thing.
