New Zl1 Inc. Mopar quality still terrible.
Heya guys,
Sold of my modded 2011 SS when I got into a motorcycle accident, bought a 300 srt8 thinking it would be a suitable choice considering my limp condition. Worst purchase i've ever made. 5 k miles in, lemon law comes to the rescue; Front end mis aligned, sunroof rattles (no cause) nav shuts off blah blah blah. Waiting for them to pick it up and then picking up a Black on black or summit white Zl1, Recaro seats, microfiber and nav. I will never have a sunroof again. I have attained the black one since the white is incoming to the dealer. So that i have a choice upon arrival. I wanted to know your thoughts/experience are with the summit white and if any of ya have one show meh. Google images don't do much justice. |

Sucks that you got a lemon, but remember that can happen with any make of car. I had HORRIBLE luck with a Ford I bought quite some time ago. Look on any forum and you will find someone who has had a run of bad luck with a new car.
I have a sunroof in my Z and have had no problems with it, I also have the panoramic sunroof in my Edge and have had no issues with it. |

Sorry about your 300. There are lemons in all brands (you build 10,000 vehicles, there are going to be problems with some). I agree on the sunroof, and I've never been a fan (I've had three).
I've been fortunate to never have had lemon vehicle (although my Grand Am GT had a couple major problems), and I've had many sports cars over the years - Firebird, Camaro Iroc-Z, Mustang GT x2, Charger, Challenger, and now I'm waiting for my new ZL1. I like variety. It just wouldn't be as special if we all drove the same thing. I ordered a Red Hot ZL1, but Summit White was a close second. Your new white Camaro will match the big white teeth smile you be showing off everywhere you go! I have the summit white and its a great color, as the white hides everything compared to other colors I have had in the past. white is clean, fast, and classy. heres a pic of mine.

2013 srt8 obviously I know if ya build that many cars your gunna get a bad one out the bunch. But it wasn't just the car it was the service that represented chrysler dodge and jeep. I have never seen rampant ignorance on the level of the mopar dealers out in Los Angeles. Needless to say I can't wait till I drop it off. I realized how little I cared about gadgets and how much more I care about the "drive" and feel of a car. The srt was so convoluted.

That sucks. When I had my SS I had the same problem with GM. Total idiots around my area. Had a cam replaced in my 2012 ram nothing but great service.

I had a Magnum SRT8 and a Charger SRT8. Both were fantastic cars. Sorry to hear about your problems. But, hey, you came out ahead anyhow!

ZL1 are an awesome car but if I was in your shoes I may have waited to see what the supercharged challenger was capable of. Should be a monster.

Yeah, to be honest I lost faith in Mopar mostly due to how I was being treated by the service spot closest to me (motor village LA) which is horseshit. I can't even explain my interaction with them in none-foul language. When my the front end was mis aligned they blamed it on me instead of sending a picture to Chrysler or taking a closer look to see there is no damage and the cars got 1400 miles on it.. They literally told me to "call my insurance" when I came in to speak with them. Then proceeded to brick wall me and hold onto my car for 3 weeks while they took off the rear end re sprayed it and put it back on so that the other side of the bumper was then completely offset. Gah, just terrible.
The Challenger will have a lot of grunt i just don't think it will be able to use it. I drove my buddies for a while and that thing is just a body roll waiting to happen (at least that was my impression of it, beluga whale) I like the styling though. It was just a drastic difference going from Martin Cadillac (where i went with my Camaro). They never questioned me. If i felt something off they would check it (and most times i was right). If i needed a loaner it was always a cadillac or chevy tahoe. I guess they just spoiled me and I need to go back. Last edited by Shakeandbake; 05-24-2014 at 02:14 AM. |

Should of took the car to a different dealer. I do agree the challengers do have body roll. But my 392 charger barely has any.

My first Camaro was a Black SS with white stripes. My Zl1 I have now is Summit White. I will never go back to a black car again. If you have the time, the know how, the tools, the patience - go ahead and get the black one. Otherwise go with SW. I'm so much happier with the SW. Taking care of the paint in any color takes time and effort but black will just show every little flaw and detail and is extremely high maintenance. I'm a bit OCD about my car so take that into consideration too
