I think its cheaper to buy a trunk lid without spoiler and a high wing spoiler and have it painted, then it is to have the old trunk reworked and painted. Thats what I am looking into now.

For those of you interested in the high-wing you should consider that it blocks the view of about 30% of important rear window real estate. And window tint will compound the problem.

I am not a fan of that kind of spoiler and don't want my car to look like an import it just looks ridiculous to me.

You can barely see out the back window as it is. This doesn't really change the situation much. The view is just fine. I have 20% tint also. Again...just fine.

Opinions are what makes this site work. Personally I love my high rise spoiler, but can certainly see why others might not.
I got over the issue with losing some of the rear view in about 1 minute. It's no big deal at all. Unless the car behind you is super thin and literally levitating you can see 2/3 of them just fine. I had mine delivered already painted. The spoiler, installation, filling in the deck lid and painting it cost about $900 total.

I don't use my back window much really. I use the side mirrors mostly.

Just got access today, bought my 2nd Camaro the weekend before last. Bought a new 86 but only had it for 2 years cause I bought a boat. Interesting it is what the op was asking for.

I love that Spoiler myself but Im not willing to drill new holes have others filled with bondo then repainted, seems to me that GM would have addressed this problem knowing that alot of people would want that

Maybe you can try it with Plasti dip paint, just to see how it will look, I have seen the black pillars on the Bumble Bee model, and it looks great, I guess it will also look great on your car.
