I would have said something far worse than that. You've got to think of it this way...the car is new to YOU. Its not the priority of anyone else to keep your car pristine. While I understand your feelings on it, that the wrong attitude to have with someone who was just admiring your vehicle.

The newness will dissipate in time. I don't like people parking next to me but know its going to happen. Just have to hope for the best and keep an eye out so there's no hit and runs.

My car dealer had some good insight, try to park near other nice cars, ideally in between 2 nice cars, you know those people will be cautious

Park in one of those end spots you know where they usually have a little island between spots. I would not park up close or far away, something in between.

What Camo81 said, park next to a nice car.

I do this when I take my old Dodge out, I park so at least on side is up against an island and get as close to the island as possible.

I plan on parking next to a curb or an island out in the middle of nowhere in hopes no one will ding it.

The bottom line, you just have to drive it and enjoy it. There are some things you just can't control.

When there is no end spot... I try to buffer myself with a few empty spots. If no free spots are available, I go way out of my way t find one. In terms of distance I prefer somewhere in between as I can see still it and so can others for a slight deterrent factor. Unfortunately, as posted here, the folks who want to check it out... will (drive by's, to peek inside or walk-ups) and even when using the above advice folks still park right next to it from time to time. Double parking, I believe, enrages most folks I've talked too... so I don't do it (as tempting as it is). It's like sex... abstinence (not parking it) will ensure no kids (of your own or in this case dings)... but who the hell wants to do that.

When parking at work, learn where other employee's park and park among them. This way movement around your car will be reduced to a minimum as the only time the cars near you will be moving is when they come in to work and when they get off.

I picked out a space in between the far back and really close because it was visible from my work location and no cars can park next to it... I am just going to have to come into work around 6am before everyone else to ensure that I get what I want.... But really put some serious thought into where you are going to park... Maybe somewhere in the middle would work out best.

park it close in the sight of you or a camera if possible

the further you go out of your way the easier it is for some jealous punk to throw a coke or bottle or something along the lines of that

the only time i park out far far away in a lot is if i'm meeting up with friends or just tail gating or something like that

Park it up front...more passerby, more contact with the car...some good....some bad, but for sure more chance of contact of some sort.

Park it out far away where no one else is parked....a few really curious AND a few insanely jealous will come up to it or park by it.

Park it far away and take up two spaces....people cuss you and say..."who does that a-hole think he is taking up two spaces?" This is the part that I will never understand. Why does it piss someone off if I choose to take up two spots.............out in the far reaches of the lot where NO ONE ELSE wants to park? Are they the keepers of the lot? Those people are never gonna park out there, they just wanna gripe that I do.

I feel safest when I can park the car at a slight angle to a side curb way out there. That way if the door-dinger wants to do his thing on my ride, he'll have to position himself the same weird way I did.

If you worry about parking far away for fear of your car being stolen, don't worry, just call ONSTAR and have them track it for you.
