From the AFR it looks like the dyno operator didn't apply full throttle until after 4000 RPM. Up till that point the PCM was in closed loop at 14.7 AFR. At full throttle (open loop) the PCM commanded a very rich AFR. I suspect this is from the LTFTs being jacked way up and applying this fuel increase to the full throttle fuel table.

My opinion is that this engine has an intake air leak somewhere causing the LTFTs to trim up.

If you want tuning done or need advice, here is where you want to take your car. They do outstanding work with Mustangs and have quite a reputation over on TheMustangSource.com. I'm sure they are just as skilled with the Camaro.

Hey Chris, you guys tune Vette's ???

Wow.... thank you for your kind words!! Now I just have to guess your Mustang name Thanks again, though... I appreciate it.

We use HPTuners and SCT software exclusively. I have the GM SCT Package which will allow me to do alot of editing, but I prefer HPTuners for GM calibrations.

Sorry SCT! For Ford, I'm completely SCT biased. No software will ever touch it!

Anyway, give me a shout and we'll get you some roller time!

The first thing I would do is disconnect the battery for a couple minutes and reconnect. Don't allow the engine to go into AFM by keeping the shifter in M. Then go do some accel tests. If performance gets better, continue driving in M for 100 miles or so. Recheck accel. If it is the same there is an AFM mechanism problem. If accel performance gets worst, an intake air leak would still be my suspect.

Now I know this isn't a true Dyno test, so don't flame me, but I did have a chance to do a couple of runs tonight using Dynolicous (beating two different Challengers in the 1/8 miles in the process!) I am really looking forward to putting my L99 on a real dyno to compare the results/accuracy of Dynolicious. Both runs were pretty consistent, but here's the results from the best one:

A couple of other points....
  • Dynolicious iPhone app settings: default setup, freshly calibrated; car weight, 4,703 lbs., 20% drivetrain loss. I used an iSqueez for the iPhone mount, in the front cup holder (which worked great).
  • It was about 100 degrees on the track, roughly 30% humidity (less sure of the humidity, that's from the news earlier in the day).
  • The tranny was in "M" but I let the car do all the shifting.
  • I held the traction button down for 7 seconds (or whatever) and had all the traction/stabili-trac goodness turned off.
  • I did not brake stand... and the car stuck to the ground like a cat. Awesome.
  • K&N Air Filter installed, everything else is pure stock.
  • Approx. 1/8 tank of premium 93 octane.
  • Four 1/8 mile runs total all night, won two (both Chally's) and lost two - one 09' Vette and one Mercedes AMG sleek looking 2 door 450hp MF'er that was really, really fast.

All and all, the car felt good and sounded good too (definite throat adjustment from the K&N). She has 5,115 miles on her as she sits in the garage right now and I think the car is really starting to open up now as she's gotten over the 5K mark. That said, I am curious what some of you experts think of the stats above... again, no real dyno results yet, so Dynolicious is all I have for now. No flames!

PS - anyone in the D/FW area wanna throw me a free dyno session in exchange for Friday night plugs at the track?

Wow, that does not look like a 4.7 0 to 60 time to me!

Very slow run based on your I phone run.

What the alitude of your location in Texas. You density altitude will be very high with a 100 degree temps. But you still shouldn't run that slow.

You need to go to a real track or get your car on a dyno. I really wouldn't trust the Iphone, especially after you beat a Challenger in the race.

Yeah that is a horrible run. GM should never of said 0-60 in 4.7 in there marketing if the car can not do it. I mean they should advertise worse case 0-60's if they are going to tell us our cars are fine doing 0-60 at 6.58-7.68 runs.

The biggest issue is this guys. 90% of us on these boards are Camaro nuts. We bought the car for the LOOKS, HERITAGE and PERFORMANCE!!!. No how many folks never owned a 400HP car are going to get there cars and say they are great. ALOT, but us real car nuts are going to say what we are here and what the F@#! is wrong with our L99's.

Many of you posting that your L99's feel find, well do not tune them. Take them to a track or somewhere and do your 0-60's. I think you may get upset.

I thought my car was fast until I got beat by a GT, V-6 Accord and a 2LT V-6. Then my sales rep and I did time runs and 7.68 and 7.26. Told me we had a real issue.

Now if you say I have not track or no stop watch then just tell me this. Can you turn off traction control, put the car in M, put foot on brake and then take it off brake and stomp the gas and break the tires loose? I 400HP car better dang wheel have a enough torque to spin the rears just doing that.

Oh and the 2LT V-6. It would break the rear end loose just doing that, no power breaking. My L99 will not. Go out and try that today and let us know.

Yeah, I cannot break the back end loose, with/without everything turned off unless I am on a slight incline on asphalt. Otherwise, she'll chirp but not much.

Elevation at TMS is probably about 1,200-1,800 ft above sea level. The heat was darned oppressive too. That said, I thought the numbers seemed low, even for an iPhone app.

I want to get on a Dyno.... anyone recommend a shop in this area?

Scott: the closest I came to a 'burnout' was yesterday...had on competitive/S mode for a 0-60 run...iPhone reported 4.6sec and I got a healthy chirp on the launch.

All the nannies off, I could probably do a burnout (given the chirp), but frankly I'm a little less than inspired to unless someone is paying me for my tires.

Count on it!!! I have HP Tuners myself but just haven't gotten around to attempt tuning the car. Plus I'd much rather have it done by a professional on a dyno.

Scott - to my surprise, I did break the back end loose this afternoon.... wife on board with me, but otherwise all the items discussed (held traction button for 7 seconds, in M, let the car shift). Level surface and the screeched quite nicely.

I swear the further I get over 5K miles, the looser the car feels... in a good way I mean. That said, I am working on getting some dyno time within the next week or so and will post back the results here.
