Gas for a long trip?

Hey all. I'm going to be getting married soon and the soon to be wifey and I are going to take our honeymoon in Florida. We got a beach house and it should be great! But we decided we want to drive the new Camaro, kind of a fun road trip mixed in. I always put 93 octane gas in my car and have since the 1st tank. But for money saving purposes I was thinking about using regular 87 on the way down because its such a long drive. Is this going to cause any issues?

Not that much savings using 87 IMO. It's only a few dollars more to fill up with 93.

You will actually get worse gas mileage using 87 than you would if you used 93.

Marriage is "give and take". She gives you the money, you take it and PLEASE spend it on 91 - 93 octane! You've come so far, don't let your Camaro down now!

if you put in 87 and it pings, it's going to be doing it for a while. spenf the extra $5.00 on the tank of gas.

You will have no problem what so ever. We took Thor to Florida at Easter and did exactly as you suggest. While there Thor got a steady diet of premium.

Did the same thing with 296 to South Carolina last month (as reported in the forum here)

Your car won't knock or detonate. The sensors will prevent that.

Also, GM cars are certified with 87 ocatane for the HP rating.

And if you actually did get better fuel economy with premium.............GM would mandate it and so would the government.

You will have 0 problems. Done it with both V6 and V8 cars.
