I love my G8 GXP, got it for a great price. I have not drove a new camaro yet but I am very satisfied with everything on the G8, including the 4 doors and the big trunk. I had been looking at the Camaro for years(remember reading about it on the LS1GTO.com board) and couldn't wait, but when the G8 came out I was drawn to it more than the Camaro. When they anounced the GXP it was a done deal, I picked mine up in April for 36.5K TTL.

As you add power whether through bolt on or forced inductions, those 3.73 gears might give you trouble off the line in the form of tire smoke.

I should mention that I really like the GXP, just too much money and I wanted better gas mileage.
I dont understand the mileage at all, I get the same I got in my 2004 GTO. I just got back from a trip through the mountains, 1000 mile round trip, including 150-200 miles of 2 lane mountain roads and 20-30 miles of holding gears for spirited drivng I averaged 21 MPG on the whole trip. On the flat highway, with stops, I got 24.5 mpg. Most all of the reports on the G8 forum suggest similar mileage to the Camaro.

I have a 2009 G9 GT as my commuter car. It is a fantastic car and runs very very strong and its not the gxp. The camaro spends most of its time in the garage. BTW i test drove a GXP before i got the GT, just couldnt see spending 10k more on a car that would have 60k miles put on it a year. The GXP felt stronger then my SS and also sounded like it had headers. It was bone stock brand new, but had that great crackly fast revving sound.

Don't doubt it. I own a G8 GXP M6 and I test drove a Camaro SS M6 last night and my car "feels" faster than the Camaro. I know it isn't a fair comparison since my car has headers, intake and a tune but I think the gearing is a big difference. I was actually surprised at how much I noticed the difference between the 3.70 gear and the 3.45 gear. I think the weight of the two cars is close so I don't think there is an advantage either way. I feel that the Camaro and the G8 GXP come down to a drivers race. Whoever drives the best wins.

Not true. The G8 GT, maybe, but not the GXP. The stock GXP exhaust is MUCH louder than the stock G8 GT exhaust.

really?...well, to each his own. I think it's a great looking car...just keep in mind it's a 4dr/sedan, NOT a muscle car. I'm upset at the fact that they'll no longer be available. (unless GM changes their mind again).

Some of you are very lucky to have country roads/ aka test tracks around every turn. She sounds good.

I can see it not being someones favorite, but horrible.. You are definitely in the minority on that one.

I can't fill up my tank or roll through a parking lot, or drive thru window, or park in front of a business without at least one person EVERY day tell me love my car. (in some way)

When I bought the car, I parked it at one of my sites. I didn't say that I bought a new car. But when they saw it, they asked "who's Red car is that". (with a very enthusiastic admiration tone)

I said- mine. They gawked over it for awhile. And these are doctors, physicists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists, nurses, etc. (mean they all make decent money, so it isn't a class thing)

This rings true for all my sites with parking that is visible from the building.

I think you really need to see one of these things in person, cleaned up and there is no denying it is a very nice looking, car.

But- I am not trying to convience you to like it, but I guess I just rarely meet people who don't like the car.

Hell I took my car to the Dodge dealership here in town. I was wasting some time, just looking at the SRT-8s they had on the lot. The sales guy, who's job is to convience me to trade in and buy their car, Even liked my car. One guy even asked to sit in it and check it out closer.

Well...I've loved the G8 since it came out, but waited for the Camaro, cause I'm a Camaro girl at heart. I got severely spanked by a G8 today at the track, and the owner claims that his only mod is a torque converter. My best time was a 9.22 @78.6mph (1/8mile) and his was an 8.41 @ 83mph.

I hate to say I'm a little disappointed that I will have to mod my car (adding thousands of additional dollars to an already expensive car), to make it competitive. That bites.
