Tires, anyone using Nt05 rears
If your using the NT05 nitto 275 40 20 rears, are you using the stock fronts or is anyone combining the Invo fronts with the NT05 rears.
i'm using the Nt05 for the rears and they hook well, and handle too. But my tire guy is telling me to use Invos up front. for better overall feel? i started smelling something....BS i value handling as well as straight line. Any opinions , yes i know there is a NT05R drag radial....but the Nt05 alone is a softer compound with more sidewall stiffness. Its a good dual purpose rear tire! this i can ateast too.

Front tires are very important because they do the majority of the work.
But being a drag racer, I want my widest and stickiest tires out back. I've been trying to decide which tire I want to run out back. I'm going to continue to run the stock tires up front for now (they still have decent tread). My rear tire choices are 1. NT05 2. NT05s 4. 555r 5.? 6.Or just go with some high quality $$$ summer tires (PS2s, Pirrellis, etc). |

I ran different tires front/rear on 3 of my last 4 cars. If you're not going to road course everyday and pulling +1 g's it's fine. My car is my DD.
If you notice a difference in handling, it will not be much at all.

You like that? I've had good experience with that combo...but it was my Ws6 ...so like 9 years ago!
wait sold it in 05 so 5 years ago. I just think the Nt05 's have better sidewall stiffness. i do beleive the 555R is stickier once heated up! The joy of having too much HP...lol i guess i have to make compromises...if i want a good handler and a good drag racer. I'm not into changing tires i like to set it up once and forget it. My tire guy is talking about tread block deflection being different. this i do understand. Funny thing is i was leaning toward the 55 up front and the 555r in back But the NT is almost as sticky....and has great sidewall stiffness. any experiment with a Nt05 up front...i think they make a 255 35 20 but thats a big change from 245 45 20 I will say this... I had Nitto Invo's on my Zo6 almost 600 rwhp....a head cam header package... and the Nitto Invos were far superior to the runflats...even though they don't reccomend your topping out you Vette . I've PS2's and they were great but too damn expensive!

I wouldn't recommend it, especially after G-townmach said they run real wide (like wide 315s). But they will probably fit. The problem is the tire will most likely ballon out to fit the stock 9'' wheel. |

Im running the stock rear tires on front. Nothing wrong with them at all. Put them on and wear them out.

This is very correct because not only is it a 100 tread wear R compound with a soft sidewall, where the NT05 is a maximum performance (not to be confused with UHP) street compound with a 200 tread wear and a very stiff sidewall. The 555R is meant for drag racing and the NT05 is about as close as you'll find to a road race tire meant for the street. The NT05 is still stickier in a striaght line than damn near any other real street tire (I don't include DRs in this category). Two very different poisons, both delicious in their own way As a side note, I'm about to get the NT05s all the way around.

We compared a set of Nitto INVO's and Nitto NT05 (non-drag) on our PlanetLSX.com project Camaro. The NT05 has slightly better grip due to them being a softer compound. The INVO sticks well too, and it is better in rain and has slightly less road noise. Both are good tires. I'd say INVO for daily-driving and all-around performance, and NT05 for more of the weekend toy type cars that might see a roadcourse or auto-x occasionally.
