How common is the supercharger issue and is Chevy standing by there warranty?

How common is this issue? Also, I read that Chevy increased their warranty on the supercharger to 5 years /120,000 miles, does anyone have any experience with this?

I'm on my 3rd supercharger. 1st one whistled to death. The second one seized just as I got it to the dealer for the squawk of death. The one I have now has the solid isolator and the loud "fluttering" at 800-1000rpm which sounds more like a loud rattle. GM says its normal and wont address it. I have 5k left until 120k. It might survive long term, its already has twice as many miles as the first two superchargers, so we'll see. GM now offers just the snout to fix the charger if the front end dies, so hopefully not too expensive when it comes time to fix.

Vroom, that's ridiculous. That's a good amount of miles, regardless it should last. Reason I ask is I'm in the market to buy one. Other than that, have you had any other issues in your 115k+ miles?

I'm at 48,000 on my odometer. I have been through one supercharger that was replaced. No issues since the replacement.

It's a VERY common issue for both the ZL1 and CTS-V. Do a search and you will see countless threads. As mentioned above, GM has changed how they service it. Mine started making the noise around 4K miles and got progressively worse so I replaced the isolator myself with a LPE solid version. The original one was cracked real bad.

This stuff would pretty much scare off anyone from getting a ZL1....might as well get a GEN6 w/455HP and get just about the same performance levels.

What is the percentage of ZL1 owners not having problems vs problem owners I wonder?

Well, I am not totally scared off since GM increased their warranty on the supercharger to 10 years / 120,000 miles. I am concerned however with Vrooms engine issue. I think it was a freak thing, but I might make me shop around for an extended warranty.

I won't buy a GEN6 SS nor ZL1, my kids can't fit in the back seat when needed.
I'm cross shopping next time, I run with 2 friends, One has a Shelby and another with a Hellcat, I was married to Chevy for 40 yrs, NO MORE!!

After the catch can incident they lost me.

Not crazy about the other fact of MAJOR heat soak in the ZL1. My 2 friends don't suffer as bad as I do.

I am currently waiting for another supercharger for my 2013 ZL1. There seems to be a trend, at least on this forum, about supercharger issues. I'm not overly worried though, there is coverage for a long time on the supercharger, and GM seems to be doing right by their customers fixing the problem. I wonder, is there a better aftermarket supercharger that would be suited to the LSA? Maybe that would be a better solution longer term than having the same units swapped out by GM. Also, I'm not sure what the whole catch can issue is about? Is there an issue with installing them on our cars?
