BFG's installed this morning

Took off the 1,500 mile F1's and installed the BFG's this morning at Mavis. Paid $759 mounted and balanced. Sold the stock tires this afternoon for $500. This was the best $259 I spent in years!! Weather was 33* this morning. Spun everywhere on the way there. Driving home was a completely different experience. Quiet, smooth and they actually gripped!!!! I can't say how much better this car rides, and I'm not driving on eggshells now. Anyone contemplating this tire do it.

Awesome! Glad you can actually drive normal in your ZL1 when the weather is not sunny and warm. We have been experiencing some pretty hard rain these last few days and I am so happy how drivable my car is in the wet. You had quite the deal there and that's awesome you got $500 for the used tires... that's a hell of a deal!

Since having my car the last 300 or so miles. I've taken her out on a few nicer days where temps were usually over 40, and I couple times just under. a few really nice days above 60. I notice factory tires are harsh and do not grip well when cold. And at times can be reminiscent of a horse that hasnt been broken yet. But, I do find that on a couple warmer days and after the tires have warmed up a bit and when pushing the car a little it completely changes from a beast on a leash to something much more refined. I believe I will be visiting those BFG's as well as Id like my regular driving experience to be a little more daily driver friendly. But i will probably put them on another set of wheels and keep the GY's for track days.

Honestly I do not track the car. I run the quarter mile sometimes. My decision to replace 1,500 mile tires was strictly a safety and usability issue. I saw too many cars on here and ZL1 Exclusive wrecked because of the Skidyears that come on them. This was a very good decision for me. Also the stock tires were coming up on 5 years and would eventually have to be changed due to there age.

You do drive with more confidence after getting the BFGs, I have been pretty happy with them and I have taken then on the track.

You got a great deal on the price and mounting and selling the GY's was even better...The more you drive the BFG's the more you will love them...I've had mine several months now and use my car as a DD and they will be my go to tire, as I don't track my car, but if a fool pulls up beside me it's his fault!!!

Don't forget about 200 miles to brake in, but it's really doesn't matter how aggressive you push them...

I can tell you that these tires need to be very warm to really stick. Living in FL, I notice that anything below 80-85 these tires don't stick for crap. When the roads and the tires are warm, they stick very nicely, but that's it. I feel for all that live anywhere the roads don't really get a chance to warm up. Good thing is, I have a set of MPSS waiting to get installed, I hope they are better in the cooler weather.

Thumbs up

Most satisfied since I installed my BFG, car fells safer while driving in cold weather or under rainy conditions, they stick as glue under any conditions, I consider that was the best upgrade on my car.
I bought my car one rainy 40 F day and the ZL1 really felt very unsafe under those conditions after leaving behind my old '11 Mustang GT 5.0 riding on MPSS tires that felt safer under those conditions at that time.
Congratulations in your decision. BFG great tires at a very low price. You can't go wrong.

Wow you really got a good deal on the BFG's. Not sure why everyone hates on the F1's. I have had 3 sets of F1's on my car and never had an issue. I daily drive the car and the tires perform well rain or shine. I am going to take the car to Thunderhill for a track day and I will be putting on a brand new set of F1's before I go. Maybe one day I will try out some BFG's or MPSS. Maybe they will blow my mind and I will ask myself WTF I was doing on the F1's.

Can't really say, only had the Goodyears and these. Seems everyone that installs them likes them better than the GY's.

Yes...A summer tire is just that, most members that live in harsh area's with bad winter's have to either store their cars or swap the summer tires off, as cold weather destroys them...

The BFG's Comp 2 A/S is a great choice for and A/S tire...I've had them on for several months and love them, smooth, quiet, and year around traction in any weather condition...
