I thought great, it cost me $3000 to drive it 14,000 miles over 2 1/2 years (winter storage). I was going to wait and buy a used ZL1, but the 1LE has won me over and I plan to order one when they are available.

Then a 1996 Z28 that I loved and put more miles on than any other Camaro (not a "track ready" car, but still fun), a 99 SS that was probably my overall favorite and my 2010 SS that I recently sold, the best overall car, but did not have the raw edge of my modified 99 SS. I have autocrossed, drag-raced, or track-dayed all but the first one, so the total performance of the car means a lot to me. I am looking forward to the 1LE and plan to do what it takes to make it around 500 hp, but would certainly consider a future Z28 if the price point and performance works out. I would love to own a first gen Z/28 someday, but it would be a collector piece, not a daily driver or track car, so for now I would rather spend my money on the closest modern day equivalent.
That is done very easily with the LS3, for under $5k you could be running 470-480 to the ground. Along with the 3:91 gear that would be a lot of fun to drive.

Correct chevy perfected the 302, before ford ever produced one.

So is this about old guys vs young guys. LOL

Z28 means a lot of different things to different people.

60's Z28 has a whole different meaning than the late 70s and 80s. To me, the Z28 was simply the performance Camaro. When I wanted one as a "young man", there really wasn't much of the SS on any Chevy that meant much. It was Camaro and Camaro Z28.....same as Trans Am.

Today, some are thinking it needs to be "back to the future" with an SS and a Z28.

The fun part is there really isn't a correct answer. What was at one point does not define what must be in the future.

GM is just playing with us now by resurecting the ZL1 and 1LE option codes..............and it thus far has not proven to be a bad thing.

And young 'uns...........just remember.....................someday you too will be the old guys.

This.

Elevety-billion times over.

And that's not in support of any personal opinion I have...it's just SUCH a good point - and can be applied to a great many situations.

Aging...It seems to happen very all of a sudden.

I like the re-entry of the ZL1, I think it's fits that particular Camaro perfectly. I also think the 1LE is perfect as a socalled Track Pack for the SS. Now I'm looking forward to the same fitting answer for the Z28.
