Exhaust question!

Okay, I need some opinions on my current situation.
I have LT's, Highflow cats, x-pipe and Magnaflow competition series axel-back. The axel-back just got put on a couple days ago and although I love the sound it's just a "tad" to loud for my neighbors. I've narrowed down that in order to reduce the sound I will have to remove one of the four exhaust pieces from the equation.

Soo... quiz time.

Out of the 3 possible performance parts listed below, which will give me the most in sound deadening and the least horsepower from removal?

ARH Longtube headers

ARH Highflow cats

ARH X-pipe

They must be good neighbors if you're willing to change the car. I'd get new neighbors.

One of them is a cop.

I agree... That setup is not that loud, open headers - then they have a legit bitch
Can't you just idle down the street a little bit before you take off?

The comp axle back is a muff delete right, there is no way I would remove the headers! Just put mufflers on it!

Eeek, invite him over for barbeques and brews. I don't think the x or cats will do much. You might go with quieter muffflers though. Still have the stock cans?
The headers are the main culprit and they're your hp gains as well. In other words you're in a pickle. Good luck.

Your setup is legal

eff em

My neighbors once did that to me. So I took the mufflers off and drove around with an open exhaust for a week. At the end of the week, they were begging for me to put my (Kooks) mufflers back on. lol

Magnaflow Comp System Sound

Same situation here. I have DT shorty's, high flow cats and Magnaflow X pipe and when I installed the Magnaflow comp system it sounds great but it's a bit overwhelming for everyday use. Also the drone at 2000 RPM is very loud. Have a pair of Magnaflow 10416 mufflers due in today. JDP advises these will take a bit of the bark out of the sound.
Should have them installed tomorrow - will advise with the results.

I see you have 2 options. 1. Put mufflers on. 2. Do nothing.

I try and idle as quiet as possible when driving down the street. But I think what they are talking about is the loud 'RRaApp!!" when I start it. I means its sounds great to me. But they complain, and the area that I live in is notorious for cops that have nothing else to do than to ticket people for noise pollution. I took a decibel meter to my car last night. At steady 2000RPM I'm hitting 75ish dB. I may just say eff it. The headers will come off eventually when I put the twins on.

Fun4JT,

I'll look forward to your results.

wow dude. what kind of relationship do you have with these neighbors? I have 1 7/8 long tubes, kooks high flow cats, magnaflow x pipe and a muffler delete on mine. the can be loud at start up so i know what you mean.

i wouldn't change it man, just try to talk to your neighbors and like someone else on here said.... just invite them for beers or barbeques. i wouldn't change the car man.

If you are legal I wouldn't care about what they think. I had neighbores try that grap with me. My exhaust was completely legal for my state so they were told to go to hell by the local cops.

california and LT headers = problem if a cops wants to make it one

i would just replace the axle back with something else. it would be the least costly and sacrifice the least amount of performance while making just a little bit quieter.
