learned two new things about the vert.

I sneeked in on a GM training seminar for sales people on their new vehicle this week . It was shear luck because just as I walked in the banquet hall they had just started to present the convertible that was sitting right there in front of me.
The first one I have ever seen in person. FYI its hard to blend into a group of 40 sales people with drool running down your face.
I did learn 2 new things about the convertible.
1- The top will not go down in freezing temperatures.
2- If the battery is dead you can put the top up manually by unlocking it with the allen key left in the trunk.

Did anyone else know this?

Funny, we bought our '11 2SS/RS convertible last night. The sales guy mentioned both of those topics.

Yep, dealer had no clue and tried to drop the top when I picked it up. Too bad it was 30 outside, he thought it was broken ! I had to enlighten him and tell him to back away from my car before I hurt you !

So just what happens when you try to drop the top in the cold. I know you're not supposed to do it, but what actually happens?
Does it refuse to even try, or will it attempt to go down?
Just curious, I'm still waiting on the delivery of my new vert.

It isn't a problem just being cold, it is only when you have ice frozen to the roof. Hard frost or a light freeze on the roof. It cannot open with all that extra weight and stiffness from the ice, and will result in a bent roof frame. This should be common sense, when you think about it. I suppose someone didn't have it. LOL

Is this really a problem? Who is putting their top down in below freezing weather? A bald guy like me doesn't need any help getting a head cold! Hell my car is going to be sheltered away from such conditions.
