? thats one of the biggest pro's to the zl1 lol they say you can bolt slicks on it and not worry about breaking anything. thats what the beefed up hubs and half shafts and diff are in it...

I don't own one but somehow I doubt it. Maybe with an auto but no way with a manual. All those dodge viper guys didn't replace rear ends for fun and I know they had to be more solid than the gm setup.

Launch control yes, one you can program for different RPM launches, but not the no lift shift

i do own one i have been researching it thoroughly. one of the lead r n d engineer is even on video saying the warranty on the car extends on track use so if you take it to the strip and blow the rear end or the axles out its covered. thats pretty big statement to me on how well the read end is set up.

i almost picked up a gt500 myself but after a little research on how they respond to mods and the live axle etc and the parts used in the rear end and the warranty covering track use i leaned more towards the zl1.

I would bet u put slicks on it and ur warranty would be gone! I obviously like the look of the car. I own an ss after all. But for the cost of entry it's just not a deal to me. If they had a 2300 series supercharger then this would be a great buy. But gm was worried about the power compared to the zr1. And of course the heat soak issues I keep hearing about. Camaro needs to lose about 500lbs. Gain 100 hp. Mustang needs 2 inch wider tires better brake fluid and different pads. Maybe some better suspension to justify the extra cost new.

Assuming it breaks. Which I haven't heard of anyone doing yet. And how many people have put slicks on them with no issue now?

Actually the GT500 has no problem putting the power down now, so the rear tires are not an issue like many thought they would be. Also, the standard suspension is the same as the previous SVT PP package and the optional package is a multi-mode Bilstien suspension. Also from what I have it just needs brake fluid and not different pads and this is actually stated in the owners manual.

still wont help the fade its going to have after lots of hard braking in the rear with those tiny calipers. but ill be the first to say i probably wont have my zl1 out road coursing it enough to ever encounter that much brake fade haha. but its a peice of mind i like having

The 2013's have bigger brakes than the previous GT500's. Just FYI.

FYI the 2013 has the same front calipers as the zl1. It's pads and rotors that are different. Plus not sure if you need 4 piston Brembo in rear. Most of these cars use 80 percent plus front brake bias/braking.

Also I don't think there are too many people that keep everything stock and run slicks. Maybe drag radials. But full on slicks they usually upgrade the rear end. ESP if they want to go fast I think they ditch the mag ride and go with some sort of drag setup. But again why not just buy an ss and supercharge it and change the rear suspension.
