Final Race Today in Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge! (Z/28R)
The final race in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge is today at Road Atlanta, starting at 12:15 p.m. This is the race series that Stevenson Motorsports (Z/28R) is competing in. Going into the race at Circuit of the Americas two weeks ago, Stevenson Motorsports #6 car was the over all points leader with Fall-Line Motorsports two points behind. Unfortunately at COTA Stevenson Motorsports decided not to go with rain tires which cost them severely, their #6 car finished in fourth place with the Fall-Line Motorsports BMW finishing first and giving them the lead in the overall points standing.
As it sits now, Fall-Line Motorsports has 296 points and Stevenson Motorsports #6 car has 291 points going into the final race today. If Stevenson Motorsports #6 car finishes in first and Fall-Line Motorsports finishes fourth or worse, Stevenson Motorsports and the Z/28R will finish the season in first. Qualifying couldn't have gone better! Stevenson Motorsports #6 car is pole position in -- #1 spot Fall-Line Motorsports qualified in the #17 spot You can stream the race here: http://www.imsa.com/camera/sportscar...che=1401455047 *EDIT #1* 30 minutes in and the #6 Stevenson Motorsports Z/28R fell from first to second and the #46 Fall-Line Motorsports M3 has moved from seventeenth to fourth. Looks like it is going to be close. The #9 Stevenson Motorsports Z/28R just lost a head gasket and is out. *EDIT #2* 56 minutes in, just had first pit stop / driver change. Fall-Line Motorsports had a much more favorable stop. Stevenson Motorsports is currently fifth Fall-Line Motorsports is currently fourth Currently under a yellow caution flag. *EDIT #3* 60 Minutes in, Stevenson Motorsports #6 Z/28.R was having brake issues. Seems to be OK at the moment. Steven Motorsports #6 car just passed Fall-Line Motorsports. Stevenson is currently second and Fall-Line is currently third. *EDIT #4* 80 Minutes in, Stevenson Motorsports #6 Z/28.R has passed the Fall-Line Motorsports M3 and has made its way to first place. Fall-Line Motorsports M3 has fallen back to fourth place. Apparently the M3 is being out powered by the Z/28.R in the straights. It has hanging on early because the track was wet from rain earlier in the day, and the M3 has the advantage. The track has since dried out favoring the Z/28.R keep you fingers crossed for no rain, it is over cast right now. *EDIT #5* 90 Minutes in (60 minutes remain), Stevenson Motorsports #6 car is still in first and Fall-Line Motorsports is still in fourth. HOWEVER, Stevenson Motorsports Z/28.R is having all sorts of electrical malfunctions. How they are remaining in first is beyond me. *EDIT #6* 115 Minutes in (35 minutes remain), we are under our third yellow flag. Stevenson Motorsports #6 Z/28.R is currently in second, Fall-Line Motorsports M3 is currently in fourth. IF positions do NOT change Fall-Line Motorsports WILL win the series with overall points. *EDIT #7 118 Minutes in, just got the green flag and the Stevenson Motorsports #6 takes the lead for about a minute but the Mustang takes back first. Fall-Line Motorsports just took third position. Not looking good for Stevenson Motorsports. *FINAL EDIT* The race is over and a very disappointing last three minutes of the race for Stevenson Motorsports. The #8 Aston Martin driven by Mark Wilkins was on Stevenson Motorsports #6 Z/28.R's ass the entire time, they traded positions a couple times each lap. Finally Stevenson Motorsports braked late into a braking point to try and take over the position unfortunately they got too close to the Aston Martin, they hit each other and the Aston spun out and Stevenson Motorsports bent a tie rod and was unable to finish the race. Stevenson Motorsports should be taking second place overall in the series. Fall-Line Motorsports takes first.

Holy crap! That Z/28 is hauling ass!!!! Almost a 2-1/2 second lead at the moment (over a Boss Mustang).
Awe crap - yellow flags are out because of a wreck.

Man... only a couple of minutes left and the Z/28 got tangled up with another car and (apparently) bent a tierod. Limping home now. Finished 10th. 14 seconds behind. Great driving by Robin Liddell though. He may still finish 2nd in the points.
A Boss 302 won the race. A BMW M3 will win the points.

Well... the Z couldn't hold off BMR in the year-long points race, but it did beat the Mustangs overall.
