Got Hit By A Drunk Driver Tonight

Drunk and drugged up old man about 65 yrs old in a Dodge Ram ran a red light and took out the whole passenger side of my 3-week old SS. Hopefully these pix come through ok, I don't post much. My car's name was Carolina because I got her in North Carolina. I'm not sure yet if she will be totaled or not. The frame seems ok, hopefully they can just do some MJ-style plastic surgery. I'm not looking forward to how long that will take GM though with parts....

Thank God I am fine and my friends (who were in the passenger seat and backseat passenger side) are all ok as well. Onstar called me before I even realized I'd been hit. Then I got slammed with my airbag. All the impact was on the passenger side.

Damn, what is it with people using our new cars for targets? Sorry to hear about your baby and glad to hear everyone is ok. What there a witness to the accident?

Sue that drunk'n no good excuse for a human being! Hurt 'em so bad in the wallet, he'll think 8 or 9 times before getting behind the wheel drunk again!

Terrible. Glad that you walked away from the wreck.

Make sure, if the vehicle's not totalled, that the entire car is repainted, even if you have to underwrite the cost yourself. Start looking for the Shop with the best reputation in your area. Of course you need not take my advice, it is given in good faith, but yours is a peculiarly personal situation. I can't say what your insurance company will make you do as opposed to what you want to do.

Best wishes on having this resolved as soon as possible.

Thanks ya'll. No there were no witnesses because it was at 2am. The guy couldn't even say his name and it took him 30 mins to figure out where his driver's license. He didn't even have anyone he could call to pick him up. It was extremely obvious he ran the red light and had no clue what he even did. Hopefully they ended putting his ass in the slammer after I left. Any suggestions for repairs are appreciated. Sucks that my first big accident had to be with the car I've been saving my whole life for.

At least you and your passengers survived. It could have been much much worse...Insurance should pay for a new car, just have to be patient once more..

Get a lawyer. Sue him for damages. Make sure you all get checked out by a Dr. even if you feel fine.

Geeze...

Sorry for the loss...glad to hear everyone is ok. As said previously, get yourself checke out by a doctor.

Ask around for a good body shop - ask to see their work. Don't let the insurance company tell you where you have to get it fixed or what parts they will use - you have the right to go where you want and request genuine GM parts.
Go over the repairs with a fine tooth comb. Look for missing screws, rattles, the underside/frame, window going up and down freely and that you're comfortable with the paint match.
Ask a million questions, so they know you're serious about the quality of the repairs on your new car.
When you bring home the car after repairs flood outside of the whole car with water (including from the bottom) and check for leaks including under the mats and trunk.
Get a written guarantee on the work that is done.
You should be able to get a rental/loaner car until the repairs are done. Check with your insurance company if they or the idiot who hit you pays for the loaner.
Good luck and Godspeed on the repairs.

Glad your ok. Again the Camaro gives itself up for safety.

Make sure they order you a whole new door if your keeping that one.

Good Luck.
