Damaged fenders during lifting
The pics don’t show up well, but i was lifting my car during a zl1 bumper conversion, I don’t have a nice long floor jack or ramps etc, was just using a small cheap floor jack.. used the jack points on the rails under the car right behind the rocker.. after doing the bumper i realize that I guess I had the jack under where the front fender panels bolt to the car and now they have creases in them and the fender is bowed out bad... any idea how much this will be to repair or best way to go about it? I don’t need bashing for not having correct equiptment or improper procedure.

I would seek out a place that does "paintless dent repair" and see what they say. They can do some amazing things when it comes to repairs like that.

Check out a couple of good body shops and see what they will tell you. The 4th gens were notorious for front fender damage. The fenders were made of composite material, and had very long connection tabs that would fool the unknowing that they were lift points. Many people have broken the tabs from the 4th gen fenders, and even I to this day must supervise all jacking and lifting of my 4th gen and the others. Good luck.

These are good jackstand points for the front. I jack the car from the horizontal beam between the 2 jack stands sliding it under the front bumper. Yeah, you'll need a low profile floor jack. Harbor freight is the best I've found for the price.
As far as the repair cost, I had one front fender replaced. $600-$750 per fender. Installed myself on my previous 5th gen Camaro. Last edited by Turbo_J89; 09-18-2019 at 11:54 AM. |

This seems to be a reoccurring theme. And pardon my ignorance, but where exactly are people inadvertently placing the jack to cause this to happen? I’m not quite clear on the op’s description. TIA
