Power steering pump replaced....
My power steering fluid had been leaking last week on my 1LT/RS....by the time I noticed it on the driveway it was bone dry on the dip stick....filled it up and made an appointment....they said it was leaking out when my steering wheel is turned full lock to the right or left....so they replaced the pump and some seals....picked it up 2nite and layed out some newspaper underneth the car....waited 5 hours and just checked it now....its still dripping....its dripping out just sitting in the driveway without even running....wonder what else I can do....the dealership has had it twice now for this...1st time they checked it and ordered the new pump.....this isnt the dealership I bought the car from.....theyre a GM dealer thats alot closer to me....I cant really bitch at them if I didnt buy it there....I wonder how many times they will be willing to try to fix it before they get tired of dealing with it....now what?

Speaking as a mechanic...if you are sure it is not left over residue dripping down, and the fluid level is indeed dropping as it sits, call the service advisor and let him/her know what is happening.
Sometimes if P/S fluid is not cleaned up properly, it can drip from the surrounding area for some time. If the fluid level is going down, they may not have a line tight or a bad pump to body seal. Probably something minor which they will be more than willing to repair under warranty. Give them a chance and I'm sure they will do their best for you. They want to treat you right hoping they will retain you as a customer even after the warranty is up on your car. Hope this helps. |

As far as i know a Chevy shop must do Chevy warranty work. I had an issue with my avalanche. Took it to a GMC shop and was told they can't do Chevy warranty work anymore. Took it to the Chevy shop and no questions asked.

Had my condenser replaced last week which is also the reservoir for the power steering and trans fluid. I noticed shuddering and noise in the steering as I left the dealership and turned back to the dealership. They said that air had gotten in the fluid. They put a vacumn on the system while it ran for 20 minutes, it helped some. They said bring it back if problem still exists in a week. It still isn't right. so it will be going back.
