I hooked that wire up and my scosche kit started for a couple minutes and then shut down. Nothing would work. Not knowing what to do and scince that I was unsure about that wire because it was were it was I decided to cut it and try again. Now everything works great. Not sure what was going on but I would say if you have problems cut the wire.

Using the Scosche instructions as a reference, the blue/white is clearly an amp turn-on lead and it is listed as belonging in the radio harness side bundle. I really have no clue why it's way up near the 44 pin. I also have an Alpine kit and I investigated it.... Sure enough, there is a blue/white wire in both the radio side bundle and up by the 44 pin. It is split into two lines midway down the long run of wire. The Alpine kit shows that wire up by the 44 pin as "aftermarket amp turn-on signal".

I am sure that it is the amp power wire but when I had it hooked up the system would not work. I don't know why, it would start up for a couple minutes then shut down. With it disconnected everything works.

Has anyone purchased the Schosche onstar unit (Camost), but did not have steering wheel volume controls? I am one of those people and what happened was that I was unable to change the volume when I call Onstar. Scosche had to modify a Camost device so that the volume is higher (but even then it is not loud enough and I cannot change the volume). They said there will be another firmware update at some point that will reportedly address that, but the process of updating firmware is a total pain in the butt!! And the last time I tried, it didn't seem to allow me to update the firmware!! I went to an auto sound retailer and they removed the head unit and we were talking to Schosche on the phone and could not get it done. There was no message on the screen that informed us that the update had taken place. Ugh.
