Or so Sidious thought. He would have been smart enough to know Sidious would come after him at some point and didn't share all his tricks with him. Perhaps he could in fact save himself or even resurrect himself.

If the movie felt a bit too much like the original Star Wars, 'A New Hope', this article might help you understand...and maybe even appreciate that familiar storyline retold for today's audience. http://www.vox.com/2015/12/26/106648...ens-derivative

Without Harrison Ford and Chewy the movie wouldn't of really been bearable in my opinion.
Wow!!!! You took the words right out of my mouth. My wife and I saw it yesterday. I've been saying this ever sense.

I liked the movie overall but I don't think it lived up to the hype.

I completely agree with that statement. Personally, I think they should have left Kylo Ren as a masked figure, the mask and voice changer were great. Couldn't take him seriously after that face reveal. lol

Truthfully expected more out of that lightsaber battle too, and how did Rai know the Jedi mind trick without even knowing that they actually existed?

overall I liked the movie. Hope the sequels can top it.

I believe that was the point. Show his weakness and immaturity, especially with the temper tantrums, and show he's no Darth Vader yet.

Truthfully expected more out of that lightsaber battle too, and how did Rai know the Jedi mind trick without even knowing that they actually existed?

When Ren "forced" his way into Rey's head and she attempted to resist and succeeded , it "awakened" her to her abilities. She turned it on him, got into his mind revealing his "no-Darth-Vader yet" fears and apparently picked his brain on what he was trying to do and emulated it.

overall I liked the movie. Hope the sequels can top it.
I've read many comments about relaxing and enjoying "the ride" much better the second viewing when your mind isn't racing to figure stuff out. Looking forward to seeing it a second time.

Hi guys 'n Gals:

I am a TOTAL Trekkie Star Wars Red Dwarf Dr Who Barbarella--you name it fan

So PLEASE don't be pissed off as I share my 1st impression txts to my son who
watched it in a theatre, as I should've done:

txt1:

OK 19:25 into this MovieSub.net "rip" of Starwars episode whatever & I'm totally
underwhelmed--my God, Mel Brooks got it better!
Jittery lackluster plot/character development, an exercise ball for a droid (but an emotive one, yes)
Kinda like Kip and Kim (whatever) (note--sorry was being alliterative--Finn & Rey--end of note)
but like I said, character dev WAY TOO RUSHED--Han Leah and Puke (Corvette Summer)
developed their personas in the orig films sans effort--this JJ Abrams guy is straining on his toilet--people are paying to watch this turkey?
Sure it'll get better tho

Txt2:

Ok
My movie ended @ 2:06 C Rey getting out of the barber chair--is that about it?

(Note--I've since read the spoiler & from what this guy says:

"I mostly agree with that sentiment. I had a strong feeling, as most Star Wars fans did, that Han Solo would bite the big one in The Force Awakens,
but I still expected to be affected emotionally by his death. Strangely, I was not. I actually thought seeing Leia and Han reunited for the first time
satisfied more emotional beats than Han’s death."

Read More: Let’s Talk About the ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Ending | http://screencrush.com/star-wars-for...ckback=tsmclip

I'm glad my movie ended when it did--end of note)

Txt3:

Totally impressed C Finn's performance as a confused hero & (of course) Harrison Ford--Leah unfortunately looks like Hillary Clinton

(note--end txts--end note)

Thanks for letting me vent,

Jeff (--notes--indicate not in original txts)
