Anything more than that and I would want my car tuned.

So the Solo high flow cats with no tune, will they make my car run too rich or lean that it would be unhealthy for my car??? (i don't really understand which one occurs with more airflow)

Stick to cosmetic stuff. If you know you can't afford to take a hit then leave it be. Still badass as is.

The L99 "requires" a tune right off the showroom floor.

It really is :thumb up:

but what's the point of life if we don't at least try to throw away our money into the pits of a cool a$$ car...

......and now i'm completely contradicting myself about wanting to save my warranty to reduce my risk.

maybe i'll just take off my air box, let the car suck in unfiltered air, and pour jet fuel and firecrackers into the gas tank.

ive been concerned about voiding my warranty too. my car has 3k miles on it. on my old bmw, the warranty saved me big time.

so far ive done mostly cosmetic stuff. i installed a CAI, heritage grill, ordered the SLP front splitter and ZL1 side rockers.

im tempted to buy LT headers w/cats and get a tune... but im still on the fence.

My warranty was voided before I got the License plate paper work from the dealer . I understand though that some people are not comfortable without the added precaution. You could do suspension work, and work on induction. CAI and ported throttle body. Moving or swapping cats will void your emission warranty, and it's illegal for emission testing. All depends on what you wanna do though.

I'm kinda in the same boat. I'd like to do some perf upgrades, but I'd like to keep the warranty. 5 years is a long time to wait.

Btw, the dual mode exhaust is awesome! On this thread, I'd point out you have the dual mode exhaust not the "performance" exhaust option that was out for 2010-12(?) models. Huge difference. this will be confusing to some who do not know about the new option.

Nice wheels

So i just wanted to get some members input on what mods they have done that didn't require a tune, or make their car run too rich or lean or anything like that...

Second, i know there are going to be plenty of people that will say, screw the warranty, just get LT headers, tune it, and so on...:headband: but, i'm a younger guy that just got married and had to take out a great loan to get this 2013 2SS, so even though there is probably less than a .001% chance that anything would happen to my power train that i would need that warranty, i'm just not in the financial position to take on that risk

So anyways, some input on different mods that i can do and keep my car running healthy (not needing a tune because again, it's running too rich or lean or anteing even though there might not be a CEL) would be appreciated

To start off, i did get the factory "performance" mufflers.... basically it just sounds a little meaner than stock and has the quad tips, so i won't be getting an axle back exhaust because i already over paid for the factory upgrade.

Thanks for all your input in advance!
I would recommend an LSR CAI and upgrading your suspension with an LSR handling package.

Please check out our LSR CAI, we offer a kit that can be used both with or without a tune:

  • ~15HP & 12 ft/lbs TQ Max Gains at the Wheels with no tuning, ~35HP & 38 ft/lbs TQ Peak Gains at the Wheels with tuning
  • High-flow Lifetime Air Filter
  • Velocity-Stack Inlet smooths incoming air
  • Made in the USA
  • Lifetime Warranty

Please let me know if I can help you with anything.

Do as you wish but, let me throw this out there since you're newly married. Every decision you make will affect your new wife as well financially. If you end up stuck with a huge repair bill out of warranty. You both will suffer for it.

Clearly she already went along with taking out the loan to buy the car. Might want to see how things go for a while before getting all mod happy.

Honeymoon phase will be over real quick like when you tell her you need a new engine on your dime.

after a CAI and cat-back, I would focus on suspension parts little by little. They make a huge impact on how your car rides.
