L99 lifter problem resolved for 2012?
The lifter tapping on start-up, a problem and TSB for 2010 and 2011 L99s: is it resloved for 2012 production, or are people still experiencing it in the current model year?
Just wondering, because I'm thinking that a trade-in may be the easiest way for me to resolve this issue. |

And some people have reported that they still have the problem after re-work. |

47,XXX miles and took it into dealer this week. told them the issue and the "tested" it not sure if they heard the tick or not but i supplied a sample video i took ealier in the week to my service writer. Got authorization for warranty repair yesterday mornings and picked her up today around 3. So look at 2 days downtime most likely. and warranty payin for it. definitely not worth trading it in!!

I'm sorry to hear about this Rock-It. I would hope that your dealer would be more willing to check into than it sounds like. I would suggest letting them have a crack at it first and if it still is giving you troubles let me know. I'll do what I can on my end to help with this for you.

I will stay in touch. Right now, my car is in hiding from road salt, but I will address this issue in April, or late March if the warm weather holds. Can you comment on how GM has addressed the L99 lifter issue on 2012 production cars? Are the better lifters now being used without exception? |

I wouldn't have any idea as to how production of the vehicles is handled. If anything fbodfather might be a better resource in that regard. I am not allowed to divulge specific information like what you're asking or basically any of the documents I have in my resources on vehicle issues and resolutions. I'm sorry I can't be of more help.

The ticking is most likely is a lifter calapsing. after you start the car it will pump up and go away. not a real big issue.
