TRACK RUBBER What is the best choices??????

So my question is simple. What is the best tire for Track Use Only? After this last weekend spending the day at Auto Club Speedway (Roval Course) I came to the conclusion that the stock Pirelli tires just don't hold up on the track. Passenger Front center tread Delaminated and came close to a blow out if I did one more session. Any help. Thinking more toward track only as i have second set of wheels.

Hoosier as mentioned, toyo R888, NTO1, stock ZL1-1LE tires, PSS for a balance of street with track ability. Falken has a good one as well. Depends what sizes your wheels are since some are not made for 20"

Stock Rims 20's. Was just looking at the Toyo R888. Seeing most are for smaller rims but don't want to go to that expense too. So anything in 20in is what i need help with.

Any experience with the Toyo R888's would be helpful. Sounds like a good tire. Seems like a decent price too. Looks like what i'm looking for but would like some feedback if anyone has used them.

Thanks Everyone

Then either R888 or NTO1 if your looking at a track only tire. Not sure if the others are made for 20"

Buddy of mine likes the NTO1's but I know the R888's work good too. Both are wayyyyyy better than stock Pirelli's

That's assuming you have 4 20x9 wheels. Otherwise look and see if they make smaller ones.

I have been running Toyo's for about 2 years now, they are great tires for the track, I've ran Daytona, Roebling Road, and Road Atlanta with them. I have a 4 square set up 285
Best of luck
Michael

Thanks for the info. i think this is the direction i'm going. What pressure do you run with them. i know it varies on conditions but on a average, what is a good starting point.

Depends on the tracks, I usually can get around 6 weekends of track time, that's not really pushing the car, I however now have a 03 Z06 for my track car, I am going through a set of Hoosier's in 3 days..
Hope this helps
Michael

So you went to a square set up with 285's.

Did you use the stock rims with that or aftermarket???

I was thinking 315 on rear 285 front. with stock rims. You think i'll run into any problems with that set up??????

That is hugely oversized for the 8"/9" rim, do not do that and run at the track. Stretched tires give better handling than pinched anyways. Pinched tires will also generate a lot more heat/flex in the sidewall.
