Adhesive backed license plate bracket & chance of paint removal?

Hi everyone,

I don't want to drill into my the front bumper to install my license plate. So, I figured I'd order a bracket that uses 3M adhesive backing with foam that simply sticks onto the bumper. http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-b...2010-2011.html

What are the chances of this type of bracket ripping the paint off the bumper if I ever need to remove the license plate bracket?

Also, will this type of adhesive bracket actually stay on the bumper or do I have to worry about it falling off on the highway?

Thanks!

It won't harm the paint at all and should stay on there provided you do the proper prep work before installation with alcohol wipes.

There are other options available if you don't like the idea of sticking something on your paint. I saw awhile ago on here a bracket that bolted on through the bottom grill and had no contact with the paint.

This is what many dealerships use for raised letters / logos on the rear decklids. They stay on very well but also come right off without issue. No it won't hurt the paint.

Thanks guy's. I feel more comfortable about ordering it now. Since top flight seems to be a vendor on camaro5, I may order it from them.

I am also thinking of a bracket that Ronn must be speaking of where the bracket attaches to the grill. However, it sticks out far from the bumper like crazy. Check this one out: http://www.bdspeedshop.com/item.cgi?...dc&part_id=187

Yeah it was something like that but didn't stick out quite as far. I've been searching the forum for it without any luck..

Thanks for looking Ronn. I've been looking all over for another bracket that attaches to the bottom grill that doesn't stick out far, but can't find one :(.

I just found an old PM of mine from a little over a year ago. I was talking with a member on here "camaropete" about the bracket and he referred me to a thread on c5 which is no longer active. I can't remember if he was the one selling them or knew where to get them. Shoot him a message.. he might be able to point you in the right direction.

Excellent, thanks Ronn. That's sounds great.

Also, I just found another mount I've never seen. The yahoo search pulled up another thread on a different forum where a company is making a bracket that bolts underneath the car but attaches to the front of the car instead of off-center. Here's the links to the thread and the companies website:
http://www.moderncamaro.com/forum/sp...le-jacfab.html
http://www.jacfab.com/camprod.html

It looks interesting, but not sure if I like the looks of it enough on the bottom as it sits.

I definitely will! Thanks again for all your help. If you see any other brackets, please post them up. The thing I like about the last one I posted is that it seems to have foam attached to it so I doesn't scratch and it's cheaper haha .
