Yes it takes power, but it takes smoothness and driving the correct line, that is all up to the driver. If it was easy everyone could do it.

I had the pleasure to run nascars this summer and I can tell that it takes a lot of skill to compete in one. Driving one in a very controlled environment with an instructor was hard enough let alone doing for real.

I really respect anyone that pilots one of these beasts.

With build specs dictated by NASCAR all the cars should make the same HP (Should!!)
It comes down to suspension set up and what they can get away with wthout being caught. All in all she beat the BIG boys for fastest lap.
We'll see if someone punts her within the first lap or they allow her to lead it!
In an old NASCAR book called "cheating to win!" old timers talked about "the call", it was when old man France would place a call to a team and let them know if was their week and that inspectors would look the other way for small things that would give them an advantage. Most times it was car weight or boring a coupld of cylinders out to get just a lil more HP

Patrick's qualifying speed was third fastest at Daytona since the introduction of restrictor plates at the 2.5-mile track in 1989. Ken Schrader ran faster laps in time trials in both 1989 and 1990.
