Installed My Front Camera
Thanks to 64Stingrays for the ideas.
I used a 3 way video switcher from Amazon and an RF controlled relay box similar to what 64stingray used. However instead of using the supplied remote I programmed it into the universal remote system of the car. Now when I hit the fist button I can bring on the Front Camera, hit it again to turn it off. The second button brings on the rear camera (when not in reverse) hit it again turns it off. I got a front camera from ebay so the image is not reversed. I also got the 4 channel rf relay box from ebay.(2 unused) All in all I spent less that $50 and about 2 hours time. I picked up pin 8 of the X1 connector in the engine bay to fool the mylink into reverse mode. |

Sorry. Relays are dpdt. I noticed that too and corrected it.
I don't have a need for the remote buttons on the ceiling so I was able to program those easily to operate video. |

Congrats! I like how you used the homelink buttons as the switches for the cameras. Would you mind posting links/info for the ebay items you bought? I'd like to duplicate this setup.
On my wife's car (a Hyundai), I was able to wire in a diode on the backup camera feed so that when I flipped the switch to turn on the backup camera when moving forward, the reverse lights didn't turn on but the camera did. Did you have to use diodes?

Well this is similar to the one I got on ebay: http://www.amazon.com/Remote-Control...control+relays This is the video switch: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A12MT4KIWBIXP3 I also used 12vc dpdt relays that I already had after My wife noticed the reverse lights. Glad to see I help but the reason I don't use the universal remote. I use one for my garage door and 2 for switching my exhaust from wild to mild, not the one you buy and don't do what you expect but my own that works

Its been a few weeks, front cam is still working perfectly. What a big difference it makes once you get it adjusted. Reverse camera works as it did, front camera works when I hit my first home link button. Hit it again to turn it back off.
Been doing some research seeing if I could find a way to automatically turn the front cam on under 10mph. Just lazy I guess..Don't know if that will work out or not but all in all this mod is definitely worth it to Me. |

Well for anyone that is interested I figured it out. Yes you can make your front camera come on below 10mph. There are a few parts that will work between 80-115 bucks such as https://www.lingenfelter.com/sites/l...tch%20v3.5.pdf
