Gotta bail on the Camaro

As much as i hate to say it...I gotta give up on the Camaro. There is only one thing about it that I can't come to terms with....price. Not saying it's over-priced or anything like that....but if I get it, I will have to sacrifice alot of other things I want and I'm just not willing to do that.

So...I had a couple choices. I like the new TC Cobalt SS...but if I'm gonna spend that much....I might as well get the Camaro. So...I decided to go back to my roots and pick up another SRT-4. I haven't actually bought it yet but I sent the owner a $500 deposit, bought a plane ticket, and will be picking it up in a couple weeks. It's an 05 w/ only 20k miles, 1 owner, and modded up.

As badly as I wanted the Camaro, I just had to take a deal I couldn't pass up. The car is faster than the SS will be and $15k cheaper. Not bad in my book.

I do plan on buying a used SS in 2010 assuming GM can make it out of these rough times. Till then.....see you on the highway

What exactly was done to it that it is faster than an SS Camaro?

sorry to hear that, but it's better that you were responsible and decided to not try & live beyond your means. that's one thing that's wrong with the economy, people buying stuff they can't afford & getting it repossessed, making lenders lot wanna give people money anymore. enough ranting... hope you enjoy your dodge & don't forget to stop by here from time to time to say hi!

my guess is turbo'd.

people throw some insane turbos on those things and they fly because of their weight.

-Mopar Stage 3R turbo kit (Bigger turbo, 682cc FI, demand regulated fuel rail, high flow fuel pump, 3bar map/temp sensors, S3 PCM, IC sprayer, pushbutton Race map for 100 octane)
-3" O2 housing, 3" cat-less DP, 3" side exit exhaust (The DP and side exit aren't on the car yet as I just bought it....need car first to install it lol)
-AEM CAI
-AGP Waste gate actuator (24psi)
-60mm TB
-ported intake mani,
-deeper FMIC (Will be replacing this as soon as i get it with even bigger FMIC)
-meth injection
-traction bars, short throw shifter, and coilover suspension

A few other tidbits but that is main stuff

I would be putting myself in a pickle if I bought it and something bad happened

Sounds pretty mean. You made a wise decision. Financially, it's always better to show too much restraint than not enough.

It's about time someone on here started thinking about the costs of everything. Hope you're happy. I still waiting on what I can get the interest for with excellent credit. I'm not wanting to spend over $500 a month and that may put me in a 1LT RS but at least I know I can foot the bill without worry about it getting taken back from a bank. Never has happened and I also want to use wisdom instead of thinking with my heart I try and use my head. Heck, I know if I wait I can get a car that someone HAD to have and get it pretty cheap. If that doesn't happen I will get what I can AFFORD and not what I want. I only drive about 12 miles to work each way so I can probably afford the 1SS but I'm not willing to pay that much at this time. I will go for the looks of the new camaro myself and leave the racing to you young guys.

Nope, no dyno numbers. I'm thinking about base-lining it as soon as i get it and re-dynoing it after I install the new exhaust setup and larger FMIC.
