What you do is add a range device and remove the AFM, then add intake and a catback followed by the below steps lol

Remove tc, shut ac off, roll up windows, load up trany with left foot keep right foot slightly depressed. When light turns push right foot down as you remove left foot from brake and watch the ls3 in side mirror then rearview as he/she trys to get their shifts organized.

The whole Different motor thing boggles my mind, I think gm was trying to market this to a different crowd imo or some sort of responsible soccer mom. I don't think anyone actually wanting a camaro and into camaros wants it to shut down 4 cylinders, cmon. I feel like they are going out of there way to make sure manuals stay quicker than autos, back in the day manual was the way to go but honestly nowadays a computer can shift quicker and more accurately. That's just my 2 cents but I've never been a manual kind of guy for my DD's.

Here's a great race between the 2. Both have kooks....cai..and a tune.

One doesn't dominate the other....

Meh, I remember 10 years ago the 2005 GTO had the auto listed at .1 quicker in the 1/4 mile then the manual and people got all crazy. L99 or LS3, They are both quick cars, what I think is funny is regardless L99, LS3, LS2, LS1 the stock 1/4 mile times have been practically the same for 15 years the HP just keeps going up lol

26HP isnt easy to come by....You would need a tune to pickup 26HP and thats a easy $400.

Well I think that the LS3 and L99 are both very nice and I'm glade we get to have the choice of which we want to purchase. Neither one is for everyone and both have +&- buy what YOU enjoy and drive it.

It was done purely for emissions, the L99 since being automatic doesn't have a skip shift like the LS3 does. They just used different method in Auto vs Manual to keep the gas guzzler tax away.

The L99 has lower transmission ratios than the M6 so the little less HP actually doesn't make much if any difference acceleration wise. The lower redline is likely due to the special valve train required for the AFM to work and VVT.

I expect in the 6th gen both cars will likely come with the same motor like the vette since the LT1 has AFM and VVT and works fine in a manual. I don't think the L99 technology plays well with manual transmission cars which is why it wasn't used in the manual cars.
