Question Can anybody share similar experiences with me for the hell of it?

I'm in highschool. Guy at highschool gets a 35,000 car from his parents . A 2007 Lancer Evo, and I get a 2003 Kia PoS . Worth maybe 3,000. What gives? My parents make just as much and they don't give me ****, I have to buy everything on my own.

It may sound it but I'm not a snob. lol

Just a little pissed is all, work my butt of in school, all A's and B's. I letter in Soccer, what else could they possibly want?

See I use to think the same thing bro. I had a letter for football decent grades and I thought i should get something for it.

My pops told me that he would help but I needed to get the money and work for it. You will appreciate it so much more then just getting a car man. Trust me this is from personal experience.

When I was in high school, long long time ago, I got a part time job and bought my own car. Parents didn't give me a nickel. I saved up birthday money, paper route money and plunked down $1500 on a 1974 AMC Gremlin. That's what's wrong with our country today, parents give everything to their kids instead of teaching them they need to work for it.

Some parents reward their kids if they have the money, some don't. I am lucky my parents are cool

Exactly what I was thinking. I was working 3 jobs for a total of 80 hours a week during the summer after I turned 16 just so i could buy my 94 Z28. Get a job and earn it.

I'm just saying that it's sooooo stupid that parents do that. The kid gets horrible grades, doesn't play sports, and is a total stoner. It just makes me angry.

You did not mention that before. If he is a bad kid then he does not deserve anything.

Life's not fair...learn to deal with that. Girls differ from guys though, my parents bought me a 02 mustang when i turned 16... i played varsity ball all through high school and couldn't work due to having practice and aau during the summer. my parents told me if i got a basketball scholarship then they would buy me a new car...however i waited two years after i graduated and kept my mustang and they bought me a camaro. Hard work pays and and so does perserverance. my mom and dad drive it all of the time... i am lucky to have parents like i do.

Getting good grades doesn't mean you're supposed to get something from your parents for it. Not everything needs to be rewarded. You'll learn as you get older you won't get a prize for doing what you're supposed to do.

And his parents aren't "not cool" because they didn't get him a Camaro or and Evo. You're lucky they gave you something you could use to get to work/school in the first place.

People will respect you more if they know you earned it yourself.

Don't worry about the Jones'...worry about yourself. And those who have everything handed to them are missing out in the long run. You'll be alright, just be patient.

Amen to that!!!...

I always told my kids that even if we were millionaires, I would never buy them everything...they need to work for things themselves to develop pride in themselves and also to learn how to handle money and spend it wisely...good life lessons for the future...we won't always be here, so the sooner they learn to take care of themselves, the better they will do out there in the 'real world'...just sayin'...
