long drive home
Iam going to Kentucky to buy my new camaro tomorrow! To get it home it will be an interstate drive of about 200 miles. Speed limit is 70mph. Will i hurt the car with that far of a drive at a regular pace? Should i vary my speed coming back home? Ive searched in the break-in section but can't find any info about this. Ive seen all the "baby it" ideas and i seen the "drive like you stole it" ideas. I just need to know if i should worry.
Thank you!!!! |

As soon as you get home, take pictures so we can see it.

I would vary your speed somewhat as the rear gear and enginge need the varied rpms to seat properly.say vary your speeds from 65 to 75 every 5-8 miles. It says in the owners manual not to maintain constant speeds for a certian time for break in.

Interstates are boring. Take the back roads and have some fun getting to know your new "baby". This will also vary the RPMs as recommended.

you will be fine, just vary the rpm's a little. Perfect excuse to pass other cars on the freeway

I have heard that you don't want to drive over 4,000 RPM's and to keep your speed under 100mph for the first 1500 miles. At 1500 miles have the oil changed, and then drive it normally from there.

Actually, I'm too impatient for that. So take a camera and a laptop, take pictures and stop at a Starbucks or McDonald's to post them up...j/k
Enjoy the car man! Nothing better than a long drive in your brand new Camaro.
