Dealers selling 2010-2011 under invoice?

For all those that bought a camaro (prob 99% of the members on this site), what do i need to expect to pay for a

2010 Camaro 2LT with R/S (and auto (yes auto i know), maybe stripes)

or a 2010 Camaro 2SS with R/S (auto, stripes)

My dad got a 2009 lexus is 250 a year ago (sticker was 39k, he immediately said 4500 off and they accepted).

Will we be able to go a few thousand off the 2011 camaro?

Nope.

The reason is depending on the trim level and options, dealers only make a profit of $1,000 or less if they sale the car at MSRP. Unlike the lexus your dad bought there is no wiggle room for the dealers. I would bet you $100 that the Lexus dealer still made a couple thousand profit where as if they did the same thing on the Camaro they would lose $3-$4k.

I agree with Mr Draco--- unless you have a friend at a dealership you wont be getting any prices lower than 500 below msrp. One thing to look into is the GM credit union discount... they can take around 800 off if you finance through any approved credit union... at least on the 2010 models. Just go to chevy.com and build your own vehilce, there will be a little pop up in the lower right hand corner asking if you want to chat with a chevy rep- they are pretty helpful. Good news is that once more 2011s hit the scene they may offer more rebates on the 2010's Good Luck!

With some, you don't even need the discount - so you get the preferred price GM suppliers get. Ask them if they will.

And you get any incentives at the time of delivery...Like the Pontiac /Saturn owners loyalty money of $1000 if you have one at your address (if it is still on by then...)

Thats a good deal, MSRP is 37650.

Also, you are from NY, aren't cars cheaper up there?

I looked at that employee discount chart and its amazing how much they get off.

Not true. The dealer still makes money even when they sell at invoice due to various holdbacks and incentives. They just don't want you to know that.

You should pay no more than invoice, with holdbacks they still make plenty.

On one example of a 2LT I priced, the difference between dealer cost and MSRP was about $2,500. Invoice was about $1,600 below MSRP. That should tell what the dealer is willing to do.

Yes, because there are things like keeping the lights & A/C on at the dealer, keeping at least a marginal service department, and feeding the salespeople. Holdback is there for a reason.

But to go with the 2nd poster, you won't see multi-thousand dollar discounts on a car like this with such a tight margin, anytime soon.

Under sticker? This isn't possible unless you had excess GMcard cash or something else.
